I have a distribution list set up for the parents of a youth football team that I run.
I have noticed an odd problem occuring when people reply to my messages.
People will often reply, or reply to all but for some strange reason I never receive the replies.
Luckily the wife is also on the distribution list so I get to see the messages if they replied to all. I can see that my email address is on the list but I never receive them ?
I have now asked people to open a new email rather than hit the reply button. This problem only occures when using the distribution list not when using single addresses.
Any idea as to what is causing this strange issue ?????
Not seen that before, are you saying it happens with both a direct reply and a reply to all? All I can think of is your sender address is not what you think it is so the replies are going somewhere else, unless you're running your own SMTP server though most mail providers would block you from changing your outgoing email address.
Yes it happens with both direct replies and reply to all.
Tried to replicate with the wife replying to them but them works - then again she is using the same provider as me.
I'll have to check the email when it comes to the wife and take a gander at the properties of my address.
I'm not running my own SMTP server.
I guess I could also try sending from another account already set up as well.
Hmmmmm
Have you checked the reply address in your account settings?
Normally its the same as the one you're sending from or blank.
Yep reply address is fine as I receive normal replies, just not when I send to my distribution list !
Two things,
Compose a reply from your wife's account, and compare the 'to' address with what it should be. If it's correct, my next port of call would be checking your antivirus / anti-spam settings.
Generally I really hate this approach as advice but, consider using something other than full Outlook for email. Outlook is a fantastic corporate email client but a baggins Internet email client. You're better off with Outlook Express (or Live email as it is now) or something like Thunderbird. SMTP email support under Outlook has always been "entertaining".
try recreating the distribution list from scratch first, i've seen plenty of oddities with DL's before.
Have you accidentally set up a 'rule' so that any emails that have a common word in are automatically saved to a sub folder, this is easier to do accidentally than you would probably think? My old boss did exactly that once, it took us and the techies a good few days to track the emails down as he didnt even realise he'd set the rule up. For example, you can set it up so that all emails with the word 'football' automatically get saved to a sub folder, sent to your junk or just deleted? Long shot but it might be something like that?
