Don't think he'll be attending the cup final tomorrow somehow.

Teuchel saying he'd be happy to lose the final tomorrow - weird. Can't see that going down well.

Liverpool are normally pretty dependable for this kind of thing, but I hope there’s an awful lot of Ukrainian flags in the crowd tomorrow

They should have asked if they could borrow Southampton’s away kit. 😀

Just watching MOTD and that Spurs away kit has to be the worst to ever grace a football pitch. And there’s been some bad’uns.

Gopping!

Looking like Bielsa is leaving Leeds with Marsch, ex manager of the two Red Bull teams set to take over.

Wonder if Chelsea have got the OK from the Charity Commission for Abramovich's generous donation? Presumably they would have to use the assets for the purposes of the Foundation not the football team!

As I said in the post before, Mrs Binners works at a senior level in this sector and knows the rules

She reckons that as soon as the Charity Commission get into the office on Monday morning then this ridiculous charade will be right out of the window as it’s completely illegal

So it looks like this is just an attempt shift the focus to get tomorrow’s final out of the way. It won’t survive contact with the real world, as they must know full well

Presumably they would have to use the assets for the purposes of the Foundation not the football team

Correct. The whole thing is a joke! And that’s before you start getting into the issue of the clubs debts, all owed to a holding company owned by Abramovic

I’m sure that kind of shit is just standard in the mafia state that Russia is - just part and parcel of money laundering - but in this country (for the time being, at least) you can’t really use a charitable foundation to launder dirty money

Marcelo Bielsa gone.

Gutted but it became inevitable after the recent trouncings. Long-term injuries to key players hasn't helped, nor has playing people out of position - Dan James is not and never will be a centre forward. He will forever remain a hero in the hearts of Leeds fans taking us from 16 years of misery and turmoil, and giving the club, the fans and the city a sense of purpose and pride. I only hope his successor will keep us up this season before some serious rebuilding for next season!

hi DD 🙂
I remember when it was virtually the law for everyone to have a yellow and blue away kit

It would be great if Wembley put Ukraine flags on every seat for today's final

* Putin

* Abramovich

Lots of Ukraine flags amongst the Liverpool fans. Apparently Chelsea handing out blue and yellow signs - some weird cognitive dissonance going on there.

Chelsea are looking strong here unfortunately.

What are you expecting Chelsea supporters to do? Support the invasion?

That's a very harsh decision to decide that was enough to overturn the goal.

While it is probably the right decision, I can't recall many ruled out for that.

Well no but when their owner is a known buddy of Putin who hasn't condemned the invasion (and has just tried to skirt sanctions) it's a bit rich for them to be claiming solidarity isn't it.

If you decide that kind of contact in the box is a foul then almost every free kick into the area gets a penalty.

It wasn't a foul, he was offside and affecting play by blocking James off.

That's what they seem to be saying now. It's pretty tenuous either way.

Supporters were probably there before the owner, and will be there when he's gone.

Yeah, same as the Varane disallowed goal earlier this month, it's something that's being watched now due to that, so as soon as you saw the VAR stills you knew it was being chalked off.

Neither of them are anywhere near clear and obvious errors though, if that's even still a thing - I lose track.

clear and obvious doesn't apply to offsides, although on the disallowed Liverpool goal I guess the decision to be made was how much he affected play.

I meant the Varane goal and the Matip goal. I don't reckon there was a single Chelsea fan or player who was aggrieved about the goal, so it just seems like nitpicking to go back and find something wrong with it. But whatevs.

Think they would be watching it back, the only role VVD had was to block off the last defender to allow the liverpool player to get to the ball unchallenged, it's happened a few times now and is being upheld more, it's also stopping the daft thing where players can stand 5 yards offside then be there for the second ball due to the 'new phase', that affects the defence as much as blocks.

FIFA have come out with some waste of space ruling now, that Russia can still play their world cup matches if they don't use their flag or anthem.

FIFA in being totally out of touch shocka!

As regards today: I just can’t get my head around taking a keeper off who had a great game and has been playing all season to bring on someone who’s spent the whole season warning the bench. Bonkers!

I believe the tactics came to Tuchel from Roman via Moscow.

Didn't he do it once before once and it worked? I'd be pissed off if I was Mendy he was fantastic all game.

Kepa refused to come off v City in 2019 - when being subbed for Gomes I think, considered at the time more of a penalty saving ‘specialist.’ This time Kepa quite happily comes on and fails to touch the ball save for hoofing it into the sky. Karma eh?

I think Keppa had been the keeper in the cup up until that game, so it was a bit of a suprise that Mendy was played at all, I wonder if it was decided beforehand that to make up for not playing from the start he was to come on if it went to penalties (rather than who was the best penalty saver).

Klop kept with his cup keeper and he played well, even though he did look like a 14 year old with a glued on beard.
