I mainly use my ipad 1 to store photos, but the ipad is now full up.
Anyone recommend an external drive that means another PC is not needed to extract the photos ?
Thinking 500 MB or so
The hyperdrive looks like the one, but at £200 wondering if their are any other options..
Cheers
J.

Western Digital, among others, do HDD's with access via a dedicated app, their MyBook drives are well regarded.

Maybe DropBox or Google Drive would be better - have you considered using online storage?

Seagate network drives have an iOS app with them.

Or use Dropbox/other cloud storage?

Although wondering if I should get a bigger home based verion as have no use of the portability..

Google drive will give you 5GB per account.
You wrote 500MB - that's not much at all

I have one of these;

Seagate FreeAgent 3 TB External hard drive

plugs into router at home, works with iPods/Pads/Phone wirelessly, can access folders etc remotely. and 3Tb allows for me to back up devices to it as well.

Yep meant 500 GB
Google drive looks like a simple alternative.
Part of me wants to feel like I physically have the photos, but maybe that is based on unfounded fears.

Feel like you physically have the files on a non redundant piece of hardware?

Google/Dropbox would be safer unless you invest in a Raid backup solution.

Jerome, specifically, this one;

http://www.dabs.com/products/seagate-3tb-freeagent--goflex--home-nas-7G7P.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product%20search&utm_content=Q200

gives the network access - think the freeagent may require a usb connection to desktop, sorry - picked wrong name off google.
