ok, see thing i want on gumtree, cant go in person as its other end of country, guy has no paypal but bank of scotland account. is there anyway i can pay and get protected if its a scam. i think i have read about e-cheques which clear when goods arrive although i'm not 100% sure about this?

This. Surely someone on here would pick it up and dispatch for beer tokens and cost of P&P (I would if it was in Brizzle for an STWer). Bank transfer is way too dodgy for something on gumtree.
