Posed this question at work last night.
How many years of your life would you give up for a million quid?.
Now my first thought was probably none, as I value my life and health above anything else, and obviously, we don't know how long we have left.
But, after some consideration.
I am 34 years old, and work shifts (Aircraft engine overhaul), So, If all these life studies are to be believed, If I remain on shifts (more than likely, as is the nature of my work) My life will be cut short by a few years, due to the shifts.
So, If I had a million quid, I wouldn't have to work, and I'd probably extend my life as a consequence.
Hence, I'd give up 5 years for a million. NEVER thought I'd ever say that!. Whaddya all reckon?.
I'm not sure 1 million would be enough to live off for 35-40 years.
A while ago the figure was 2.8million for most people to live comfortably without having to work.
But it would depend which year? Is it the final year or a current year?
I'd like to live for another 40 years and have nowhere near a million to draw on.
I'm not sure 1 million would be enough to live off for 35-40 years.
I thought you could still get 3-4% index linked if you invest properly.
