I noticed in the "How it adds up" column the Mail neglected to add their payment for the story.

Well I'm so furious that the larger of my testicles has just exploded. And what are 'top-of-the-range mod cons'? I want some, and I want them now!

I love the Daily Fail comments. This is my favourite by far:

"well not quite but he does get paid very well for doing nothing other than breading kids."

They're not ginger, it's just a crispy coating!

breading kids

What, like scampi?

[img] [/img]

Regardless of all the reactionary bollocks; those kids all look pretty happy and healthy. So that has to be a positive thing.

Has anyone noticed; shirt, tie, pudgy, balding, 'race' numbers on wall behind him?

An STWer???? 😯

MMM an interesting one i have to say it does grate a little to enable [ by paying for everything] someone to be able to have 14 kids at our expense. They can afford 42 inch tv and two cars. There are many people in work who cannot afford this level of lifestyle. Perhaps a benefit cap above which you cannot "earn"?
Th ebenefits system shopuldf provide a safety net and assistance to those in need it should not enable epeople to be able to have

42in flatscreen television in the living room with Sky TV at £50 a month, a Wii games console, three Nintendo DS machines and a computer - not to mention four mobile phones
tHese are luxuries my family cannot afford despite working and earning abive the average wage.

Yeah, but these could have been gifts, blah blah we don't know all the facts. Come on, let's face it, this is little more than a typical Daily Fail sensationalist hate-mongering load of bollocks, as always. Far worse things going on out there.

I must say, I was more disturbed by Sam Cam's toenails:

Hang on a minute, I am all for having a system that doesn't allow people to fall into destiution but this hardly the same ****ing thing is it? It's an example of how a system can encourage people not simply abdicate responsibility for their own lives. It's incredibly selfish on their part and incredibly stupid on the part of any government that implements a benefit system that allows this to happen.

The fact that there is worse out there doesn't make this sort of thing any more palatable. That goes for Sam Cam's toenails as well.

Good spot, IanMunro. The DM article only mentioned that poor kiddy's condition briefly. Shows that we really don't know what their situation is, and are only looking at it superficially. Easy to make snap judgements when you aren't possessed of all the facts.

F- the Dail Mail anyway. Nasty Hate-mongering chunts.

As a new parent currently looking into the benefits system I am confused - working doesn't stop you from receiving benefits so why on earth can't one parent work and claim income support/working tax credits/childcare help or whatever?

My wife is going back to work part time and we are able to get working tax credits and help toward childcare which means we will be better off than by her not working. I know every person's circumstances are different but it is my understanding that the benefits system rewards those that work.

By and large they are, but you can't dismiss everything is publishes as being false or reactionary because of this or else you'd just end up being a bleeding heart liberal of whom everyone takes advantage and is responsible for bankrupting the country.

If the description of Tie's condition given in the JustGiving page is accurate, the Daily Mail should be utterly ashamed of themselves for printing this vicious article without making proper reference to it.

Yeah, but these could have been gifts

Yes the two cars, televisons , compouter games and phones could all have been gifts but I suspect they are not. Perhaps their gran pays for the Sky subscription and Internet? Then again perhaps it is the taxpayer ?
The system is a safety net and it should be there and enable people to be out of poverty...I draw that line someway below plasma tv's and Sky subscriptions personally.

I like the way they named their youngest daughter after a recent sponge-purchase: "Mercedes" - obviously not the most imaginative of people!

We can expect their next children to be called "iPad" and "BlueRay"

Don't know if she actually said this or it was a made up Daily Wail-ism, but it's a touch of genius anyway

"and I don't want my kids living on a council estate and struggling like I have"

Now I don't agree with the fact they can keep knocking out kids and claiming more and more, but is a £50 p/m sky sub a lot?
There are a lot of people on benefits that spend far more a week on fags and booze (they may well spend plenty on this also, but I'm guessing not as they are so fertile). Think i'd rather they spend "taxpayers money" on watching tele than destroying lungs and livers.

.....and they probably got one of the cars on the mobility scheme as they have a disabled child.

We can all complain that they are freeloaders etc, but how many of us would swap our way of life for theirs? I'd want a lot more than £42k to look after 8 kids.

What's worse is that he's getting £42k take home - you'd need to be earning close to £70K gross in a proper job paying tax and NI to take home that...

Tax free I assume so nearer a £60k salary in real terms (can't be bothered to calculate it)

After finishing Uni I spent a spell on the rock n roll. I still shudder (actually fear- the only time in my life I've actually felt fear) thinking about it.

I think you need a certain mindset to actually want to spend time doing nothing with nothing else but kids to look forward to.

I actually think quite the opposite. They can have as many kids as they want on benefits but the money they receive should be spent frugally. £50 for satellite TV is an obscenely unnecessary expenditure.

Agreed - especially as it isn't a '£50 to Spend on Sky or Drink and Fags allowance'. But I guess it is difficult to stop people spending money where they want to when it is given as a living allowance.

Whats worse is the kids will see their parents not working and see that as the norm and i would wager a healthy sum be happy to take up the same career.

It is wrong, it should not be allowed to happen when folk putting in a shift can get nothing like that amount of expendable income.

Anyway it is all Labour fault .. buying votes 😉

"Whats worse is the kids will see their parents not working and see that as the norm and i would wager a healthy sum be happy to take up the same career."
Sadly endemic in this neck of the woods, and much of it can be traced back to the 84 strike - lot of blokes found themselves on the scrapheap and ended up believing they were worthless, months turned into years and now we have a whole generation that have never gone out to work. I wont be so glib as to blame it all on the Thatcher government, but she played a part, of that I have no doubt. I made a total career change when I left the pit, but I saw a lot of people that werent able to do that. It feels like the working classes have been replaced by the 'benefit' classes sometimes. Having said that, dont believe everything the media tells you, they've always got an angle of their own to cover.

From first hand discussions with someone managing to do the same as in the article but with fewer sprogs, I can confirm that some people do see it as a career move. When asked what they'd do if they had it all taken off them, they said "find a job". Says a lot really.

Hmm if this is true we need to shove a large cork up that lady and kick the guy repeatedly until his nuts fire blanks.

I hope this is fake, I'm not angry at the givernement but angry at lazy ****ers stealing of the state but again not know the full article info -it could have been 6 ill kids with leukemia etc and you know what the press is like.

Bit racist to gingers I have to admit... 😀

It's pretty tricky to design a system that get everything perfectly right tho. Personally I'd rather give money to people that don't deserve it than risk giving money to people that do.
