Clay pigeon?
Or Stock Dove. We get a few that appear to be Collered Dove/Wood Pigeon hybrids.

It's a hard life in the city, innit.

Pigeons, particularly city pigeons, are manky gits that often stand about in their own shit which it turns out isn't very good for their feet?
Not true.
If a pigeon (rock dove) needs to have a crap it will turn round and point it's arse over the ledge thereby avoiding shitting were it's standing.
Besides, under normal conditions pigeon shit dries to become rock-hard extremely quickly.
"Anyone like to hazard a guess as to this one I was watching this afternoon?"
Count Zero, looks like a Glossy Ibis to me. Where were you?
Count Zero, looks like a Glossy Ibis to me. Where were you?
It's a Glossy Ibis & he was Darn Saarf, (Cornwall/Devon-ish?)
Bout the size of a Curlew?
I'd go with a Stock Dove for the OP. Not a lot in it between one of those & a Wood Pigeon.
Stock Dove has a totally black eye whereas a Woody has a light ring round it's eye. WP has a white patch on it's neck.
@cz
Love the glossy ibis photo.
Count zero -you lucky sausage. Would love to see one.
Wood pidgeon.
White on the neck and yellow'ish beak.
@Countzero: glossy ibex at Ham Wall!
What do I win?
glossy ibex
A shiny goat?
My mate was getting regular showings of a Glossy Ibis near Marazion earlier this year but he hasn't seen it since he moved to North Yorkshire. 😕
Alpha1653 is spot on, that's exactly where it was. Spent the best part of thirty-forty minutes watching it pottering around feeding about fifteen-twenty feet from the furthest hide along the boardwalk opposite the first observation platform.
There's a second bird around, they were together earlier in the day, but I'm not sure if they're a mated pair.
There were five or six great white egrets in the reeds nearby as well, no sign of any bitterns, though.
Boom! I went down there last week for my birthday and was well chuffed to see the egrets, ibex & murmurations. Well worth the trip.
