Hi Guys
I bought an I phone 5s on ebay knowing that it was I cloud activation locked.
But me being me thought I could get this gone by paying the above £20.
Simples I thought but now I have had another email saying that they want another £30 for it to be processed.
Now I have done some research on google and they seem to be dodgy.
Anyone had any dealings with them.
I don't want to pay out another £30 for nothing.
Are they scammers.
Many thanks
Martin

Sure, "officialiphoneunlock.co.uk" sounds totally legit to me.

Site's been around for three or four years according to Whois, registered to a (possibly false) address in Belize.

Seems you're not alone in being disgruntled:

If it quacks like a duck, etc etc. I'd be getting my money back if I were you.

If its iCloud locked it just needs to be reset and unregistered by the owner before selling. Easy enough to do.

That is, if the owner is the one selling the phone... if you catch my drift.

I bought the phone from someone on ebay but they said it was in lost property!

Sounds dodgy all the way along I know. 🙄

You've just wasted the price of the phone and unlock. Can't be unlocked at all

I was going to ask on what planet did you think sending money to officialphoneunlock was a good idea then you post that you bought a phone advertised as "lost property"( well the guy did lose the phone when the seller robbed him.)
Kiss good bye to your cash see if you can hand the phone into the police who may be able to trace and return it to the loser.

I think if I you're in possession of some "lost property" it may well be exit stage door and on yer toes doon the street pursued by the constabulary.....

unless you're Burt Reynolds in which case it would be

Exit Stage left, pursued by a bear...

Officialiphone unlock are a bunch of money grabbing shysters regardless of the provenance of the iPhone in question...

Robbers, plain and simple. Despite repeated attempts to get money returned, I ended up out of pocket with a phone purchased from a good friend that I know works and is not "lost/stolen/blacklisted" as my daughter popped a sim in it and is using quite happily.

Avoid them like the plague, and the payment service "nochex" that they use.

Grrr

start the refund process stating that you believe the phone to be stolen, usually they'll bend over backwards to get your money back as they can and will get booted off ebay for that.

Thats if they're a shop. If it's just a bloke from Peckham then maybe a different story.

For the iphone unlock shop i'd be the kind of vindictive bastard that would take the time to file a police report for fraud.

Out of interest do any of the 3rd party iphone unlocking sites actually work? When I mean 3rd party I mean a company that is not Apple or a mobile phone network (Three, EE, etc.) ?

I'm curious as to why anyone would risk it, assuming they don't have a reason that they can't go to the network or Apple...

Pretty sure they are the ones my other half used. Same problem, one price, then come back demanding more. Don't accept phone calls we got no reply to emails until we gave them a big negative review on a review site. They then contacted us saying they would do it for cost if we withdrew the review, additionally they would keep our money and do nothing if we refused. We caved and took the lower offer, it got done but took over 2 weeks all in.

In Birmingham, it costs £20-£30 to get a iphone unlocked. Lots of phone shops and market stalls offering this service. I can't see why the OP wouldn't just look round the high street to get this done.

PS

If the phone is lost or stolen once it is up and running can it not be traced to it's new location?

If the previous owner has reported it to their network then the IMEI number should be blacklisted meaning whether or not the phone gets unlocked it won't work as the phone will not register to a network.

You can just reprogram the IMEI, which is illegal, but easy enough to do, and what most of the dodgy shops who unlock stolen phone do.

Until the IMEI is genuinely burnt in at manufacture rather than just programmed into Flash, the whole stolen phone racket will continue.
