Producer: "Mr Prescott, would you like to do an interview for us on the departure of Mr Speaker?"Prescott: "Are you a journalist?"
Producer: "Yes"
Prescott: "F*ck off"
Thing is, normally I would lambast the chippy champagne socialist muppet until the cows come home, but on this one, I have to rather begrudginly amdit that I'm impressed!
🙂
If only all politicians gave us the unmediated sound of their brains at all times. We shall miss Prescott you know. 🙂
What was it your mates used to shout from the opposition side?
"Gin & Tonic steward..."
Scum!
i think he is the last of a dying breed
it does seem that to be a frontbencher at least any working class background mp rising through the ranks would have to bury their personality under the slick well groomed oily veneer in the blair/cameron/clegg mould
He reckons that it wasn't quite like that. I suspect that he's probably telling the truth here :

Yes, but Arnie was good in The Terminator...
Can I just in return say Dave was good on the today programme he even made me think he was sincere.
He was p1ss poor on 5-live today. Jeesus if you can't fend off Nicky Campbell there's not much hope is there ?
I've always rather liked Prezza, although (like most people) he can be wince inducingly awful at times.
He's way better than the Tory MP who asked me to be his agent in '89.
You always knew where you were with Prescott. He's a thug but an honest thug.
Can I just in return say Dave was good on the today programme he even made me think he was sincere
That's because, in common with Tony Blair, he's a communicator. Despite what you may think of them or their policies your first reaction is to listen to them. Now Gollum Brown on the other hand has no natural communication skills and those that he has tried to acquire come across as completely false- I reckon he's probably got Aspergers. I don't think anyone is listening to him now.
I saw Prescott at a meeting when he was an opposition MP canvassing support for the deputy leadership of the Labour Party. I liked him, he pushed all the right buttons and was highly popular. Sadly I think he sold out. I know that deep down he was uncomfortable with New Labour, but he never had the guts to speak and/or resign.
IMO he was only ever seen by Tony Blair as a simple fool who would keep the unions sweet and on-board. Sadly he eventually turned his back on the unions, despite the fact that he only got to were got because of them.
Brown on the other hand has no natural communication skills
Strangely enough, I find that I tend to remember things which Gordon Brown says. On the other hand, I can't remember much or anything which David Cameron says. I've no idea why, maybe it's because I listen to Brown more intently.
Or maybe it's because David Cameron doesn't say much ?
No, its just that Cameron just, kinda, you know, sort of, doesn't actually say anything.
Although a friend of mine put £500 on Cameron at very good odds to become Conservative leader, he's happy.
Yup, Cameron speaks a lot and says nothing. Natural politician really.
in common with Tony Blair, he's a communicator.
No, he just makes the same sounds and vocal intonations as a communicator.
But really, you know, his, you know, really, speciality was not talking in soundbites when, you know, the hand of history is on our shoulder.
