Yes, I will like it up there and no I don’t want to go to Devon or the Lakes instead 😉.

Going up again in Aug with friends after going for first time in June 2016.

Will be either camping or staying in those camping pods so good campsites a must - friends prob in their caravan 😬.

Last time stayed at Amble, Seahouses and Rothbury and in that time went to Warkworth, Craster, Berwick, Holy Island, Farne Islands, Alnwick...would like to go more inland around Kielder as taking bikes but also to the sea but somewhere not been to.

So STWs Protectors of Northumberland...what suggestions do you have for me?

As a local of Rothbury there are some good x country routes around Rothbury based on loops around the sandstone way. There is a loop over Simonside and down Whitefield hill another is to go along the carriage drive to the north of Rothbury. There is good biking for mileage at Kielder forest mainly along the reds trail centre. Also worth doing is the loop up to windy gyle and down Usway Burn.

Druridge Bay

Walk from Alnmouth to Warkworth

Windy Gyle from Barrowburn

Get over to Housesteads and walk a bit of Hadrian's Wall. Walltown to Housesteads is 9 miles of history and beauty. Well worth doing.

We love Cragside, it's an absolute marvel.

Beaches.

Hadrian's Wall would fit the fill being more inland, some nice loops to walk around there (what ^ says). Also walk along the Tyne around Corbridge.

Yes get yourself up the upper Coquet Valley for a day out (bikes or no bikes). There must be a country show or two on whilst your up if you want a good dose of localness, country life and sheep with lovely wool.

Being from Barrasford i'm going to suggest staying in the campsite at Bellingham just up the road, they have camping, bunkhouse and pretty sure they even have some of those wooden pod thingies.

Allenbanks and Plankey Mill could be a nice spot to visit and that new visitor centre along Hadrian's Wall (what is it called?).

Has Allenbanks fully opened since the flooding?

The new Whin Sill YHA might be worth looking at. It looks posh from outside!!

The new visitor centre along Hadrian's wall is called the 'Sill'. Worth a visit if you get the chance, bit of local history and info on the area, little cafe and you can walk up on to the roof and get a decent view of the valley. As Anus says, try get yourself along to a country show, think Glendale show (,Wooler show) is on the bank holiday in August.

Linhope spout Is a nice walk out if.youre up that way, away up the Ingram valley.

If you like motorsport there is the Jim Clark museum in Dunns just over the border in Scotland. I've not been for years but I remember it being small but interesting. It would be a short stop on a trip up to Eyemouth.

If the tide times work then spending time on Holy Island when the tide comes in is lovely  most of the day trippers leave and you have the place to yourselves.

The other recommendations all seem really good and it has reminded me why I need to plan another trip back to Northumberland.

I've not too much to add really..

If staying in Bellingham take a walk up Hareshaw Linn to the waterfall ..the woodland is almost primeval.

Once you know your dates check out what activity is on at the Observatory , Kielder ..but you will have to book this in advance ...

There is lots of riding in the area ..including the Lakeside Way and The Bike Place Kielder hire out bikes ( including ebikes ) ...take insect  repellent

Most of the other hot spots have been mentioned ..

If taking in the coast..take a Farne Island trip from Seahouses ..oh and the fresh crab sandwiches in the " post office " eaterie on Holy Island are to die for ..

Have a great time !

Don't forget 2 of the best smokehouses in the country.

Smoked haddock and smoked garlic from Swallow's smokehouse in Seahouses.

Kippers from Robson's in Craster.

If you like big pine forest, a huge lake and midgies you’ll love Kielder.

Yup visit the roman wall areas not been to the new visitor centre but suppposed to be very good.

Alwinton, Ingram and Colleger Valley will give you the remote beauty of the Cheviots with simple walks and rides easy to plot. Then of course the beaches there’s way more than you will have found the last time.

But yeah it’s rubbish.

My most favourite part of the world!

But I have nothing to add that those who are privileged to call it home won’t tell you already, except...

Get thee to Jarrow Hall museum!

Best. Museum. Ever. And it needs our patronage.
