Ssup...

Got a 2012 Nexus 7. The battery is just utterly useless now and holds its charge for a really short time. It even sometimes can't sustain itself under use when plugged in.

Has anyone successfully revived theirs with a replacement?
Easy to do?
Link to a quality replacement?

Thanking you.

Are you sure it's the battery? Sounds like it could be a fault with the usb/charger port (common problem with this tablet) or a dodgy cable if it can't charge fast enough. Try downloading a charging rate app first to see if thats the problem

Easy enough to do if you follow an online guide (try ifixit) and plenty of spares on ebay.

Fairly sure it's the battery.
It does fully charge, and shows a full charge, but depletes very quickly even just on standby.

4.4.4 or 5.0? Plenty of issues on the webz about 4.4.4 on the N4, N5 and N7 draining the battery in a very short period. I was losing 20% in an hour on the N4.

I bought a Moto G 4g to fix it. That's on 4.4.4 and no issues.

Where did you find a decent battery duckman?

That's not a battery issue then is it, you're running it off the mains.

Reckon I'd be looking at a factory reset before reaching for the screwdrivers. Also, anecdotally, battery life on mine appears to have improved with Android 5.

I'm not sure, but when it has been left a couple of days and the battery is utterly spent, you can plug it in and the charging icon appears but it won't turn on. It needs to have a little residual charge first seemingly and it's just not holding onto it.

Once working, it does run ok with the mains plugged in, but I was watching Iplayer the other day and it was at a very low charge, and it still came up with a low charge warning despite being plugged in.

I've done factory resets a few times. It's gotten pretty laggy and glitchy now, but then so has my HTC phone which has just had the latest update.

My 2012 one has become an ornament this week since the lollipop 'upgrade' has rendered it slower than a Commodore on a Dial Up 🙁

I hope they push out a fix soon....
