And where to avoid?
Depends what you like and what you'd like to avoid.
Throw us a bone here!
Go to Sunderland instead.
Avoid newcastle. Thank you!
Pubs and clubs for 12 guys looking for a good couple of nights out on the razz, a nice curry house would be a good shout, What about Whitley bay??
Just follow one of the other group of lads/girls dressed up as nuns/fairies etc.!
Asking in terms of hotel/b&b, pubs or sightseeing?
Town centre is fine. Maybe best to avoid the Bigg Market. Loads of decent bars around the central station these days. The quayside was decent but seems to have gone quiet in the past few years. To be honest it's ten min walk from end to end of town centre so not unknown to do a crawl from Quayside up to Haymarket (near unis).
Jesmond is nice too, plenty of bars but not sure what the bouncers are like with stag dos. Few b&bs too so a short stagger home.
Probably avoid any other outer area. Some of them get a bit tribal, and really just local pubs for local people. Gosforth is fairly safe but probably wouldn't make the (10 min) trip to go drinking there.
Which is the 'student' street? I liked it down there. I also have a dim recollection of being asked to get out of a dancer's cage somewhere near a bridge.
Sorry I cannot be of more help.
M_F - Was there a bucking bronco in the same pub as the cage?!
Jesus wept.
@breatheasy I have absolutely no idea. The next thing I remember I had gone back to the hotel alone with no money and started to sponge drinks off people in the hotel bar.
😀
We wont be dressing up, been refused entry on to many other stag do's, But It's just a boys weekend drinking and socializing with the locals 😉
Just wondered If there was any really good haunts and any places that are a bit as you said 'Tribal' that we need to avoid.
Thanks for the help so far.
mf that second pic Is scary.

Agreed. Particularly scary as I look the most convincing female 🙂
OK, go to Newcastle, please don't come to Whitley Bay Pleeeaaase.
go to the gate, people seem to like it, or mosley street, which seems to be the new place to go. I grew up in Jesmond, it was nice once, now its full of students and bars, so you may want to go there.
PS, i honestly wouldn't come to Whitley Bay, the pubs are dying on there arses.
M_F - Osborne Road in Jesmond is the 'student street' i should think youre on about. Finished 5 glorious years at uni there last summer. Returning for a big one tomorrow night.
Ollie - I wouldnt be too worried about dressing up, between the Stag dos and Students they never turn away fancy dress really.
I once saw (on another stag co-incidentally) Tony Yeboah of Leeds United fame in a lappy bar in Whitley Bay.
The dancer was doing interesting things with a shoelace through an intimate piercing...
😯

Probably is - lots of bars with outside seating areas by the road IIRC. I had my first (and only) Magners cider over ice there. What over-rated crap that was.
Ollie, I'd probably do one night down Osbourne Road in Jesmond (5 mins in taxi from town centre) and a night in Town Centre. Restaurants in Jesmond are quite small/expensive mostly but centre is fairly well geared up for 15 people having a curry so they won't blink.
Much of the outlined suburbia is fairly sparse with pubs. Some nice ones out in the sticks, don't get me wrong, but it'll be the only one for a fair distance so hardly a lads night out.
If you end up in a housing estate with one pub, then consider that tribal! Socialising with the locals 😉 in there may get you spoken to by her boyfriend/father of her child/son.
avoid the bigg market. loads of bars on collingwood street and the gate area that would be fine for stag do - seems to have taken over from the quayside. bars on the quayside still good for afternoon beers by the river, so are all the bars on osborne road in jesmond (good happy hour 5-7). train station area better for proper beer/pubs - there are more but generally more out of town. don't reckon the trip to whitley bay would be worth it tbh (not been for years mind so only what i've heard). don't worry about fancy dress, loads of folk do with no problems. whatever you do don't come dressed as smurfs, we see loads of them!!!! enjoy!
As part of a stag weekend in Newcastle we went to the dog track. Brilliant fun, and we sponsored a race, so Stag dressed as bugs bunny got to present the prize for one of the races to a none-too-happy looking owner, crowd loved it.
Dog track people were fab, and we also got a deal that linked with entry to a gentleman's establishment. Nobody enjoyed that at all.
We also did the usual city centre stuff and it was great fun.
Kev
and although not the best curry house in town by a mile, Rupalis (of Viz fame and ironically on the bigg market) can entertain 12 lads easy enough 🙂
Youll need to pay a visit to either For YOur Eyes Only or Blue Velvet
We went karting somewhere closeby - outdoor place, very good. Then went shooting.
Then watched Rooney getting sent off and England getting beaten by Portugal in the World Cup (2006).
Winegums; why, mate? Just, why? No need for it really, is there? Hmm? 😐
I once received a 'phone call from a mate where all he said was 'Yeboah! Yeboah! You Red Scum!', following Tony scoring against Liverpool one game.
He coon't half smack 'em, Yeboah, eh? Bang! Goal. Reminiscent of Hot Shot.
Lorimer... one-nil!
Before the ball had even left his foot. 🙂
Just for you Elfin me old mucker...
