My old Dell desktop PC shat itself a couple of months ago and is effectively not repairable. So, I need another PC, 2nd hand reconditioned running something Vista or later. The dead PC had 4 Gig of RAM and 500 Gig of HDD, a half way decent graphics card and a pumping sub-woofer for the tunes. The monitor and speakers still work so I assume I just need to replace the tower.

Has anyone got a recommendation as to where I buy from ?

Thanks in advance, D.

Have a gander at ebuyer for a cheap box. There is usually at least one on offer every weekend.

I've recently replaced a Dell desktop with the same again. Old one had speakers and sub which were pretty good. Speakers and sub that I paid extra for with new one are rubbish compared to the old ones. Regretting taking the old ones to the tip now.

I got a cheap zoostorm tower off Ebuyer.

Great thing about it was plain vanilla windows with no manufacturers grotware installed alongside.

OP yes screen, speaker, keyboard, mouse all re-usable. Buy a tower / box to replace yours. Suggest also you by an external usb caddy as I bet there is a decent your old hdd you can still use / see as an external drive. Once you get everything off it (I saw on other thread you have done a bit of that already) you could reformat it and use it for backup.

You might look at a Tower/box with say a 250 SSD which is much much faster and keep other bulk stuff in external drive ?

You might consider a box with hdmi out (not sure if thats laptops only) then you have the option to use machine to drive content to your tv or look at chromecast, lots of options these days for media content online and send to tv

Happy shopping

Naughty naughty ! Freecycle or sell for a few £. Just bought a new little speaker for £7 and massively impressed with it 🙂 (expectations where low though)
