My old laptop has just about given up the ghost. I have a pc plugged into the tv and use this to store family photos and for I Player etc but the old laptop is handy for surfing and my wife uses it for updating (school) work from a usb stick.
I want a cheap replacement so would I be better getting the cheapest laptop I can or just a network? Don't want to spend anymore than £250
Ta.
For a bit of spodding and light office work, a netbook should suit your needs. Budget an extra 20 quid for a 2Gb DIMM upgrade. The dual core CPU ones are rapid compared to their single core brethren but you pay a premium.
Failing that, Cash Converters for a 'pre-loved' lapdog.

Netbook. Just bought an Asus EePC for £180. Does all I want.
