Toyota Avensis Estate D-4D 2012-14 can be had for your budget..

Another Octavia? Or a golf estate?
I've got the 150bhp 1.4tsi octy love it can't think of a better car for the money, maybe a bit over budget. Seen some of the older 1.4tsi for around 8k. Was sceptical about small engine highish BHP in large vehicle but it's been spot on loaded with 3 blokes bikes and kit for day's away.
Forgot, I get 56mpg on my 80 mile commute and on bike days out about 47mpg this is driving for economy but on my my commute it's 5 mins difference in journey time to my more aggressive style of driving so not worth the stress and added costs.
Would you want to take the wheels off the bike when you put a single bike in?
Modern estates seem quite low in the back. Means you usually wind up having to remove one/both wheels 🙁
Front wheel off. I like the idea of aa1. 4tsi, was thinking of a cheaper duesel for a couple of years then going petrol, but could stretch budget to 10k
You may as well get the same again if you can find one in your budget. I had the Avensis tourer as a company vehicle 6-7 yrs ago. Good car, space great, robust etc., but hideous handling in moist conditions - ok consumption wise.
Civic Tourer supposed to be ok.
Passat MK7 likely to be over budget unless hyper miles
Superb likely to be over budget unless hyper miles
Dont discredit the Koreans, you'll get an i40 for that price with lots of tech and toys.
1.4TSI octavia here, '60 plate. bought second hand, no real regrets after 4? years ownership, doesn't have a hard like but good economy, comfortable enough, enough car (but not too much) for us. Can lug loads when required or pootle along happily.
This coming from a 900S Saab, which again was a nice car to own - felt decent, solid.
I did have a moment where I asked the garage to check the washer level light, as it didn't come on -- turns out that model doesn't have such facility. Oops.
Mondeo estate
Don't get a Golf estate. They are sheeee-ite. In saying that, you can have my 2008 plate one for much less than your £7k budget.
Civic estate with 1.6 diesel here.
Over 50k miles nothing has gone wrong. Fuel is about 60mpg. Lovely place to be in.
Diesel Subaru Legacy/Outback?
Well built, boxer engine is apparently good. Might struggle to achieve 55mpg but depends how you drive. Not sure about tax ( although, for society to function and welfare services to be resourced appropriately, paying tax is a good thing, community pays and all that ).
A bit different too.
"Mondeo estate"
Iv'e got a 2010 Titanium X Estate & I love it. Pretty economical too, doing 50mpg ona 13 mile back road commute.
I've had a 3 seat leather settee in the back with the tailgate just about 2" open. It really is a good size & very nice to drive.
Heated seats you say? Mine are even cooled as well!
Saw a new black one coming out of a Ford dealers the other day, no idea what model but it looked bloody nice!
Mazda 6s drive well. Wouldn't have a previous gen diesel one out of warranty though.
Also not strictly speaking an estate, but smaller than most SUVs. Loving my Yeti 1.4tsi.
