I'm sure this has probably been covered before, but will I be able to use mu UK Netflix subscription while I'm on holiday in France? I'm guessing the answer is no, but is there any way of tricking my laptop in to thinking I'm still in the UK?

Yes you will. We've done exactly that on holiday for the past 10 days with mine and my wife's tablets.

Well you get your Netflix FRANCE subscription so you won't have all the same stuff. Basically anywhere Netflix works, your account will work and give you local content.

Use google chrome and download the Hola plug-in for it. You can then look at any country's Netflix content. If i had to stick with the UK content there's no way i'd still pay for it!

I was completely unaware of any change in available programmes whilst we were away (also in France). Just used the app that I'd put on the tablets months ago. Didn't even need to log into the account and we watched all our usual series.

Yeah Hola is pretty good for watching Netflix - try the Canadian version if you like Films, they seem to get more blockbusters and sooner than even the US.

I used it last year to get BBC iPlayer to work in France, we had a 3 month old baby with us before anyone wonders aloud why I was back in the chalet watching the F1 at 8pm and not sitting in Bar Robbo sipping Mutzig.

Any alternatives to hola?

Other options seem to invole messing about with IP addresses at router level which isn't great if you're away from home.

It's worth noting that the Hola haterz are concerned about holes in its ability to hide the owners true IP from the rest of the world - usually because they want to torrent without fear of getting caught - the risks are small and if all you want to do it appear to be somewhere you're not for content, it's smaller still.

I use it without fear of black helicopters and such.

When in Spain, I downloaded Tunnelbear, which is a dead simple VPN app for iPhone. I don't know if they offer similar for other OS?

Download a free VPN, or a cheap one. I use VPN one click. You then pick whatever countries server you want to go through. Its a great way of getting loads of different programs from Netflix as they show different programs in different countries.
