...why the Olympic announcer makes the medal announcements, etc in French first?
Asked loads of people now and no-one seems to be able to offer an explanation.
Whatever reason it is just seems wrong!
❓
The official Olympic language is French.
It's always announced in French first regardless of where it's held

The official Olympic language is French.
France being where Mount Olympus, home of the gods, is situated.
France leveraged the Olympics from the Greeks during the last credit crunch.
It'll be German soon.
Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894. The IOC has since become the governing body of the Olympic Movement, whose structure and actions are defined by the Olympic Charter.
Probably a lot to do with this
Bonjour, j'mapelle Zeus.

Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin
I can sleep tonight now 😆
C'est merde n'est ce pas?
Rien à voir ici.
Que?
Chapeau, mon vieux!
L'edit ninja. 🙂
We should think ourselves lucky really.
The Form for the Announcements goes:
1st - French
2nd - English
3rd - The First Language of the Host Nation.
So in Beijing, they got their announcement third.
France being where Mount Olympus, home of the gods, is situated.

Those would be the Ancient Olympics, died out 1600+ years ago 😉
The Modern Olympics are what we have now.
