ive got a North Face Borealis, its superb. use for everyday stuff, use it on the bike when my 10l pack isnt enough, use it skiing, walking, makes great hand luggage on flights... etc

I have a Deuter Air contact 50 plus10L .Very comfy fit and I really like how adjustable they are .

POD are very good sacs but aimed really at climbing rather than hillwalking/backpacking. I have several (!!) Arcteryx sacs (all secondhand or sale items) which are magnificent but expensive. Mrs. SOM has an Osprey which is a lovely sac - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one. Oh you might have a look at Deuter too.

If I had to choose I'd go with Osprey but I'm sure the lightwave will be good too.

Try them on. Cotswold staff are normally pretty good and will help you get one that fits. Although the only experience I have of Cotswold is the one in Betws y coed.

Lightwave are made by Crux, who unfortunately don't have the greatest reputation for longevity (any more).

Between Cotswolds and Osprey themselves you will get a pretty much unconditional warranty - Osprey are renowned for replacing knackered bits of kit without batting an eyelid. FWIW I thought the Kestrel was a great pack too - light and comfortable without too many (non-removable) 'features'

I am still a fan of my (ancient) but simple Lowe Alpine and Karrimor.
My recent Lowe Alpine is also a superb bag.
I like simple, little adjustable, light bags that have few pockets and spaces. I pack carefully and find them just as comfy as posh packs with lots of adjustment at faff.
I have a
Lowe Alpine Crag Attack (1991ish!) bombproof, comfy and best bag I have owned.
Lowe Alpine Crag Attack 4 2010(simples, bullet proof, comfy - Great for day and overnight)
Lowe Alpine Alpine Attack 45:55 (great for me on a few day wander, comfy)
Karrimor Alpiniste 65 from 1992 (huuuge, bombproof, mega comfy, poor lid, PURPLE 8) - perfect for multi day with a group so extra kit)

Another vote for osprey here, had my big one for a few years, got my wife a smaller one more recently (forget the model names). Seem well made, reasonable price.

Podsacs. Get one of the old made in Sheffield ones secondhand if you can.

I have a Super Teardrop and an X-Pod and if anyone wants to sell me a Teardrop, I'm all over it.
