i just ordered some sennheiser CX300s from play.com for £15. was going to get some denon AH-C252 as recommended on here, but iheadphones.com were trying it on with me so i wont be going there for anything in future.

the sennheisers are RRP at £30 i reckon, and you usually get white ones cheaper, but the ones i ordered were black, so im hoping its a bargain 🙂

I've got some Sennheiser CX all good, different sized buds for snug fit, nice sound. £25.00 from a duty free Dixons ages back. Again look out for fake ones on 'bay

Sennheiser are good bang for buck, Shure E2c's Canny but the bass is a bit light and crispy, also the Cables are fragile and prone to cracking behind the ear as mine did recently.

Replaced with Klipsch Image S4 and Comply foam tips (Which I also used on the Shure's) and they sound amazing. Punch and clarity.

I also Reccomend HiFiHeadphones as a great and helpful company to buy from

My Main issue with the Sennhieser is the bloody cable coating they use it's a grippy rubber type material. This causes massive micrphonics to travel up the cable. So if your moving the music is accompanied by swoosh thrumm swoosh thrumm.......

I've had a couple of pairs of Shure (lost the first set...). With the foam ear buds they are very comfortable, provide excellent noise isolation and I like the round-and-over-the-ear cable routing (which puts the cables behind your head and out the way).

I've not had problems with the cables splitting (which seems to be a too-common problem), but I'm not constantly getting them out/putting them away. I tend to use mine whilst flying, so wear them for extended periods a few times a month.

I haven't used the BOSE ones, but it seems that they have reluctantly entered a market that they had previously shunned in favour of their over-priced, over-engineered (and vastly functionally inferior) 'noise cancelling' headphones - on which they must make mahoosive margins... 😉

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Denons. A mate went through three pairs of Shures before getting the more expensive Denons. I bought mine from a hifi shop in Bristol, but there's more than one on-line supplier. They definitely sound better than the Sennheisers, and retail for less. I've seen them for around £17 online. For the money, I honestly don't think there are any 'phones on the market that match the Denon AH-C252's.

I have the Bose in-ear ones, they were a gift.

They're good, not great. If I were paying myself, I'd get Sennheisers.

I would recommend Shure's but... it's true that the bass isn't as strong as it could be, I think it's true across the line (having had E3s and E4s). Also, I've had to send 2 pairs back in the last 3 years; I did get a free replacement each time, but after a while you wonder if they're really built to last.
I've read good things about Klipsch though.

i have the sony ex71 (senhiesser cx300 are almost identicle) which i find brilliant on the bike, the rubber boots hold them in your ear nicely even at 35mph down hill (not that you can hear the music at that speed!)
they sound good too, they are semi noise cancelling but not too much that at the right level you cant hgear the traffic and the greetings from other walkers etc.
oddly enough on amazon, the white version got a higher rating than the black by 1/2 a star lol!
great for the price now around a tenner ish +/- a coupl eof quid!

Denon AH-C551 get my vote-the sennhisers are good by I snapped mine while they were in my bag, but the denons are made of machined aluminium and are much more durable. They also sound better, with a better bass response and a clearer top end, and can be got for around £30 of ebay!!!!!!!
