So, you *have* to apply online via myjobscotland for most local authority jobs in Scotland.
mrs_oab received a letter today, with a print out of recent application form, asking for a date and signature to be applied...despite header having date and time in and a tick box to confirm application...

Could well be due to the background screening/refernece checking process. Many companies/educational establishments still require a physical piece of paper with a signature before they'll release any data. It can be easier to get that upfront at application stage, rather than having a bit of to and fro later on.
