Have plugged it into a computer. The iPad comes up in iTunes but no idea what button to press after that.
The iTunes account is normally used for my iPod.

You will be limited by the number of devices/locations etc. You wont be able to access other peoples music (different itunes accounts) I believe
If it's registered, and a wifi model, it should show in iTunes automatically. Usually my iTunes shows my pad and phone via wifi, and my iPod Classic when I connect it.

If it's appeared in itunes, just start using it like you would the ipod.. tranfer music, book and video's to your hearts content by either sync'ing the on the different option pages (apps/music/film/etc), or selecting to do it manually and dragging and dropping...
As above, you can click on 'iPad', which will give you the device in its own window where you can sync it.
