so the mrs and i decided to sell up and move on last night.

first estate agent coming round on friday to size the place up. In central scotland (well linlithgow specifically which is near the burgh) how much should i expect to be paying for commission etc. Think i paid 0.75% fr buying and selling 4yrs ago how unlikely is that now people are selling less houses?

also moving from a 1xjoint salary to >3xjoint salary potentially but pleasantly suprised that mortgage monthly payment doesnt appear to multiply by 3 how odd.

scary scary business but time to move on.

if you're going from (say) 15 years left on a 25 year mortgage to 25 years on a 25 year mortgage that'd explain why the payments aren't rising too much. good luck with the hunt, don't forget to budget for stamp duty etc

Think the best I got 18 months ago was 1% (I tried for .75%) - it used to be more until some new agents entered the local market and stirred up the competition.

1 to 2 grand for fees searches, registrations etc, stamp duty, removal costs, insurances, a lot better than the USA when I sold a house costs are 6 to 10%!!!!
