MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
In theory, moving tomorrow. Haven't yet (10.30) exchanged contracts. It should have happened yesterday but a solicitor up the chain went home early without giving his deputy permission to do the exchange.
If it dosnt happen today I'll be displeased to say the least.
My solicitor is chasing it (apparently) but is there anything I can do?
It bothers me that there is a possibility someone futher up could royally bugger this up and I have absolutely no comeback.
I had this when we moved out of Edinburgh - despite repeated tellings that I was staying for a while but wife was departing early, they did diddly squat until the day before A-M left, at which point we had to go to the solicitors at 5.15 to get the forms signed. Fire-fighting at its best..
They may (al or similar may help) be able to do it with an indemnity or get the guy summoned to the office tout suit. Park yourself in someone's office until its done.
This is my/our third property. In 30+ years. Above is why we don't move more often 🙂
everything is signed... They just have to bloody swap the contracts!
It's incompetence on a whole new level!!
Not really. Obviously to you this is a very important transaction. It may not be to others up or down the chain who may not be so motivated to get the paperwork done in time. As you say sadly this is why many people don't want to move often as frequently it's a stressful PITA experience.
Good luck

Happened to us to.
Says to me that you're not their priority. Bother them/stand in their office so that you are?
Indeed - IME some lawyers seem to really like a "just in time" production model. It makes them feel important I think.
Good luck.
Whenever I move I always build in a couple of weeks incompetence of others time into my schedule.
I knew that as soon as I started moaning it would come good. All done!
Better finish packing!!
Yay!
Good news 🙂
