We will be in touch
Hopefully Mrs Fiola and I are off to the Isle of skye next week. I havnt been since i was a kid, what is it like for mountainbiking, is there anything good but not too techy what about the mainland near there? Going in my camper, is there any good campsites or places i should visit? Oh.. and what should i take besides some ace waterproofs!
There's a good camp site just outside Portree - on the Staffin road. Very handy for some good food & beer. I rate Portree as one of THE best places for a pub crawl. There's another at Glen Brittle. Right on the beach, but remember to take a carry out with you.
Visit the Old Man, Kilt Rock and The Quirang.
Oh - and the coral beach near Dunvegan
I'd recommend Sligachan and Uig too.
MrsT
e did a 2 week tour of Skye 2 years ago and it was great,Go over on the ferry and do a anti clockwise loop and come off on the bridge.
Slig campsite was a bit exposed and run by ignorant Germans

Campsite at Glen Brittle is in a near perfect spot. Not stayed there though. Fantastic walking into the Cuillins from the campsite. The campsite at Sligachan has a pub right behind it.
Never ridden there but I'm sure most of the riding is going to be pretty technical. I'd love to do some big rides there but went recently & didn't miss the bike at all: get your walking boots on!
To echo what's said above: definitely take the ferry over & back on the bridge.
Whats it like for dogging?
Beautiful part of the world. I want to go back up again this year.
