OK, I quite like the idea of a 125 trail bike to potter about on.

Due to French law, and my lack of a full license it has to be a 125cc max. I will use it exclusively on the small roads and chemins around my house and village in rural France. 15km will be a long journey!

So should I be looking at 2 or 4 stroke? Back in the day (almost) everything worth having as a 125 was a two stroke, is that still the case.

I'm not looking for anything fast and MPG is unimportant too. A top speed of 70km/hr would be more than adequate. I'm much more interested in reliability.

Does anyone know of any models I should lookout for please. Budget of about €1K.

125cc Varadero? My ex did her CBT on one when she couldn't get on with the crappy clutches of the 125 singles. I didn't realise it was a V-twin until she came back beaming & saying "want one!" Took it for a spin myself & it felt like a much bigger bike.

That or a ktm duke 125.

Thank you HF. I think the Varadero looks a little to Urban for me. I need something that I can use off road a bit too.

2 strokes are lighter and more powerful but need coddling more and do bad emissions. If I was looking for a 125 trail bike, KTM would probably be where I'd start.
