Hi, battery's on it's last legs. Triumph Speed Triple 955, 2003. Ideally a goodish battery to avoid sprag clutch problems!

Been a while since I last bought one. Any good brands to go for or to avoid?

I would go for a motobat might be a couple of £ more then most but they do last well had one in my drz for years will probably put one in my tiger 800 soon as that's still on the original battery from 2014

Boring perhaps, but I've always gone for Yuasa which is OEM on a lot of bikes. Never had a problem with them and they seem to last pretty well.

Anybody switched to a lithium equivalent? Any feedback or pointers please?

Another happy motobatt user here, had yuasa and they invariably died through lack of use over winter, the motobatts that are on 3 of my bikes just work, and when they don't an overnight charge brings them back to life.

Buy from Tanya batteries.
Very hard to beat on price. I’ve used them a lot and always been amazed at how cheap the same battery can be from them.
I tend to use Yuasa but Motobat are as good as folk say.

Have a Lithium on my Guzzi and it never fails to start that big old lump easily, held it's charge fine over winter in a cold garage with no need for a trickle charger and it didn't weigh as much as the moon like the old one and it left me room to add a puncture kit in the extra space gained from having a physically smaller battery.

When the Triumph (Sprint 900) battery gives up the ghost it will get a Lithium replacement.

Got mine from Sportsbikeshop I think.

Another happy Motobatt user on my 1050ST. It's always hooked up to an Oximiser so I guess any battery would probably be OK. 1050s are a bit prone to sprag clutch damage with low batteries so the keeping it plugged in bit works for me. I also had a Motobatt on the Aprilia RSV I had for a few years, again always plugged in but always worked.
