Whats it like? You seem to get alot for your money in this area- any reason why?!

Obviously Saddleworth up the road, are the pubs ok?

(I used to live in Stalyvegas)..

I think there is a local bylaw that prevents you from living there, unless you are married to your sister.

I've a few mates who live round there, some very nice riding and a few decent pubs. not great for the motorway but good trains for commuting

I know- noted on that 25mins To Victoria.

With the young un I just don't want him growing up in central Manchester. My preference would be Outlane/Hudds but the missus wont 🙁

I'm in Mossley, it's like anywhere, you've got good bits, bad bits, good pubs and not so good pubs... the riding is good, saddleworth area just round the corner, easy access to the peak, west yorks by bike. rossendale, hebden etc are only 30-45mins in the car.

Housing is 'cheaper' than some of the surrounding areas, especially saddleworth, I guess the main reason would be the larger proportion of smaller/terraced housing with Mossley's industrial history. There are larger houses about but apart from new builds and 80's/90's stuff they're not that common.

If you're looking and want a 'locals' opinion on house location drop me an email and I'll let you know. Or if you want a ride out and check out the scenery/pubs I could have my arm twisted too.

Cheers

Keith

Thats a shame. I wouldn't choose Outlane myself, very noisy as v close to M62. I live in Marsh and its ace. If she wants to live in a countryside area then there are loads of little places around the A640 south and North of the M62 at Huddersfield which I would really like to move to if I had the cash to.

For instance Golcar, Holywell Green, Stainland, top end of Slaithwaite etc etc. You have to know the area pretty well but there are some ace places to live.

If you want to buy or rent email me some details of your budget and I can have a search round and maybe recommend some places. day off today so I wouldn't mind. rcatkinATgooglemail.com

I know but the folks live in Outlane along with a fair few of my relatives.

Second choice would be Hebden, close to the family but not too far. However mrshora is still undecided. Apparently we also have family in Hebden as well..

Drove past Slathwaite & Marsden this afternoon and pointed up roads etc of girls I went out with when I as younger 😆

HP- that house is sold/exchanging contracts today. Funny how the Estate Agents kept it as 'for sale' to bump up their advertising...

Ps, I've cut a deal with the missus - I can ride tomorrow if I take her (so its Hebden). So two days riding 😀

Sunday on the Peaks if you fancy it Robdob, Nbt? 10am start at Barber Booth- with a few others. Pace slow, socialable (inc Beast & Cavedale).

I do mean slow on the climbs though. So as long as you fancy a steady cadence? Could meet you at Outlane one evening circa 5.30pm on a nice dry evening and head out over Saddleworth etc.

Got this for £150 for commuting but can also leisurely take it out over the tops until Im fitter- looking for a new road bike to follow 😀

What's it like as a place to live? I think the clue is in "you get a lot for your money" 🙂

rcatkinATgooglemail.com Will do.

Ed2001- sounds good in my books. Uppermill and Saddleworth are ok but why soo much? so what if they have odd brickabrac shops etc etc. I think I could live with an old Greek place and Chinese etc- shops come and go after all..

Look at the corollary, Didsbury for example is a very expensive place to live, personally I wouldn't live there if you paid me to

Same with Holmfirth and surrounding villages compared to places nearer Hudds and north of Hudds, ok its nice but not that much different. Is there a village called Saddleworth? I though it was just an "area". I went past the Saddleworth Hotel, is that near Saddleworth?

One of my best mates lives in mossley. When an airplane flies over the locals stop and point
