After decades of being a Windows user I’ve been gradually migrating to an all Apple system recently after having iPhones for years. Bought a MacBook Pro earlier in the year and have been slowly moving over.
I’ll hold my hands up and say that I had some dodgy old copy of the Adobe suite on the old PC. Which worked fine as it was used so infrequently. PS and IL mainly. Now don’t worry, I’m not after cracked software, can you even get it on a Mac? But thought I’d just go and buy those two apps. But turns out you can’t, it’s now a subscription only. I really don’t want to pay a subscription forever for anything let alone some software that I use occasionally.
Are there any other apps that do the same thing? Free or paid for? Any other options?

Darktable is very powerful but there is a bit of a learning curve and lots of modules that basically do the same thing.
Cracked software of older versions exist like CS5 but i use it for work so it's simply not worth it.
Affinity Photo is the go-to alternative - one-off payment and gets really good reviews.
Affinity do replacements for PS and IL (Designer is the Illustrator equivalent). £90 until late January for all 3 (includes an InDesign type client too).

Luma Fusion is an iPad/iPhone video editing app, that works dammed well on a M1/M2 Mac
