I can see the argument from both sides TBH, the MOD not wanting endless court cases (in themselves expensive for you and me)and to be able to set a figure and budget for that again mindful that the public purse isn't bottomless, from the soldiers POV I can understand why they would want to challenge decisions that they feel don't adequately cover their future needs.
Tricky one- poor form to try to claw back compensation, but what are these 'complications', and would compensating for them set a diffficult precedent? Easy to come to the obvious conclusion, but we don't know all the facts
No offence to anyone but I think you need to reword 'compensation' IMO. It should be classed as 'disability assistance'. Compensation has too many incorrect connotations when applied to servicemen.

It wasn't a spin doctor, that's for sure. But it was probably someone confused by the courts' approach to the rules or worried about their budget rather than someone actually cruel or evil.

That's rather the point, BD. There are, as has been pointed out above, two sides to this story, but what sort of ****monkey thought it would be a good idea to do this now, with Brize as busy as Heathrow!

I'd agree with that, the legal process being labourious as it is. But undoubtedly, some will try and gain political capital out of this, which incidentally why it has been posted on this forum.

Compensation is not paid out taking into account rank, only degree of injury.
Oh and a good compare and contrast for the payments made to injured troops is the £480k paid to an RAF Pers Admin jafa for her horrific RSI 'injuries'.

Soldiers don't go to war on there own, the Mod does what it's told by politicians.
What is it, 20 dead this month and 50 injured with some very serious. 1 in 10 comes back with some sort of life changing injury.
How many politicians kids are fighting there now? It's all so sad it makes me mad.

I somehow doubt that the two ends of this statement are unrelated. More a case of because Brize Norton is busy, not despite it.
