I'm after a new ring tone for text messages on my new phone (android). I fancy the 5 note Close Encounters tune but can't find a download.

What have you got that I might like and can you recommend any websites for (virus free) free downloads.

Ta.

Anything other than a simple beep, classic phone ring or vibration and you are Colin Hunt.

If I ever find the twunt in our building with the hilarious yoda text alert that goes off 20 times a day, that phone will be visiting somewhere where the sun doesn't shine!

Hmm message from the dark side. Aarrrghjjhh

Why do you need to identify your phone from the across the office? Keep it with you for gawds sake. It's a mobile!!

Classic Nokia beep-beep-beep... beep-beep-beep is the only classy choice.

Unfortunately it has a limited battery life so is often left charging.

Work phone then or just some casual abstraction of electricity?

The phone switches automatically to silent and vibrate when I'm in the office.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm no Colin Hunt but I do find the default ring tones hard to hear/distinguish, hence the request.

The sales office at work is the best place to hear all of this twuntery. Grown men acting like spotty teens with their ring tones and message alerts. It's bellend central.

Keep it with you, and on vibrate. Failing that, keep it charging on your desk, and on vibrate.

I've got Wallanders ring tone 😳 but no text alert tone to make up for it.
Mrs j has the theme from rent a ghost - but too quiet so she never bloody hears it (at least that's her excuse 👿 )

A recording of a small child saying 'text' in an incredibly cute voice.
Get double points if you also get them to record an unintelligible answer phone message for you.

Broadsword calling Danny Boy for text.
5 piece chicken dinner by the Beastie Boys for ring.
Being sad I never get calls or messages so it's really exciting if I hear one of them.

Mine is mostly on silent, but my ringtone is the breakdown of the best trance tune ever created, my message tone is the old ICQ uh oh tone which makes me smile.

What most people on here are saying

Don't annoy people with your 'humorous' ring or message tone

We've had 'answer the phone you fat little bastard' and a police siren in the past.

Now we've got mission impossible. The only impossible mission will be removing said phone from the owners arse

A guy in our office has the sound of a flock of seagulls, confusing the first time you hear it from across the office

If anyone wants 'Broadsword calling Danny Boy' as a ring tone, the mp3 is here: https://app.box.com/shared/ubm2oifq9b

I extracted it a few years back to use on my phone...

I also did the CTU ring tone:

Ringdroid app lets you edit any mp3 track to make a ring or message tone.

I've got some congas from an old jungle mix tape going 'p prrranga ta tang' for message alert.

I did quite like the guitar solo from 10.15 on a Saturday night but change is good..

For text messages I use Hector Salamanca's bell from Breaking Bad. It only tIngs once through.

In summary, novelty ring tones, no matter how cool you think they are, mean you're a bell end.

Essentially no!

Favourite one was on huge Tele Cabine in France. Slowly chugging up and guys phone pipes up 'Master, I have mail for you.' in a Lord of the Rings style voice. Cue most people pissing themselves and guy then getting phone out without batting an eyelid to look at said mail, apparently oblivious to the 60 odd people looking at him like a complete ****.

I've had the ring tone from the film Crank for years. It's a normally ring ringtone but sounds like the phone is about to die.

Er, surely silent (with vibrate left on) is the only one a man ever needs?

Buzzes in jacket or trousers pocket when out and about.
Buzzes on desk when you're in the office so you don't disturb those around you.
Buzzes so you don't have that embarrassing moment when everyone knows you're secretly reading [s]STW[/s] the Mail Online in one of the office traps….

[#everydaysexism] Only women need a ringtone (and a loud one at that) to hear the phone calling for help from within the confines of an overloaded handbag. [/#everydaysexism]

I use the zedge app and like to alternate between the metal gear solid alert sound and the roadrunner meep meep. Both equally annoying 🙂

Used to have worms firing a rocket launcher and the evil laugh.

A hangover from my days as a hobbyist music maker, I have the Morse code for 'message' run through a load of delays, flangers and phasers.

My ringtone is the same trick done with the code for 'ring ring'.
