Hi i recently made a video using the Mini DV Cam from the net.

I got 17mins and my 2gig card has run out of space.

Anyone else had that much space taken in such a short time, is there a way to compress it on the cam itself so its not so huge?

Many Thanks

Nick

Er Mini DV is the tapes. If you are saving video to card then it's soemthing else. See if there are any settings for reduced quality on the camera or get a bigger memory card.

RTFM always helps 🙂

The Mini DV cams do seem to use a lot of storage but 2gigs for 17 mins seems excessive! They have no controls to change resolution/qualify to reduce size unfortunately. I've got a 4gB card in mine but the poor battery life means I haven't really used it in anger.

Averaging out footage I've taken so far my 8GB card should be about 2 hours.

Presumably taking about the recent eBay purchases, which were a DV Cam that was mini, rather than a Cam that used Mini DV.

I'm seeing similar file sizes but not quite as bad!

I get about 15 mins to about 1.5 gb (running an 8gb class 6 card) here gents. Used mine at the weekend to test at cannock. Very good video all things told. Im working on a mod for extra battery life (mini usb to battery pack in the rucksack) - but to be honest its not too bad. Give it a good charge before you go out on your bike. I'd say at least 4 hours.

My mate got nearly an hour on his. Its easily achievable if you charge long enough.
