Ok so they are a bit ****y in most situations but I have a specific need for one*. Are there any recommendations for sites or software? I'm on Mac.

* in this case, I want to set out all the topics related to this vast sprawling piece of software I have to work with so I can tick off each topic that I learn about and identify the things I don't know about.

Theres some really great ones out there, at a price (mind genius etc). I went with an open source cross platform jobby - Freemind. It's been great for years for simple stuff.

Lucidchart & Miro should both work and have free accounts.

What I have to deal with is much more sprawling and rambling than that, believe it or not 🙂

Guy at work swears by something called The Brain, he's a proper evangelist for it.

MindNode - works well on both my Mac and iPad.

My WFH solution to kicking off new projects is presently MSTeams with a Mindjet mindmap on screen share.

Mindmaps work for how my brain works. Particularly good when your colleagues are shouting out changes they want. Organised chaos 😎

I use Curio - its Mac specific and has a mindmap tool in addition to lots of other features. Not sure that the mindmapping is the best part of the software but worth a look.

Great for collecting and annotating project info, few project management tools [don't use them]

I went through this looking at the usual suspects and I ended up using iThoughtsX on Mac. Excellent piece of software with iOS companion app, regularly updated, good communication with the Developer, and it's designed in Yorkshire.
