46yrs old and I'm lazy, in my younger years I've had Mohicans and spiky hair all the colours of the rainbow but defaulted to a no2 all over for last few yrs cos I can't be bothered to go to the barbers too often, however...a couple of months ago the mrs said that as I still actually have hair I should let it grow as she prefers longer hair,
I now have a scruffy mop up top and I'm not sure what to do with it, leave it and keep the SO happy but feel like floppy moppy, or no2 all over and feel tidy..another Mohican isn't an option before you start...
What do you lot (who still have hair) do?

*reminisces about when he asked the barber for more than a t-cut and polish*

can't help I'm afraid.

I usually get it cut short, then, after a month or so, I decide to grow it long again.
After about 6 months I realise I resemble that bloke from Eraserhead so get it cut short again.

Took me about 18 months to grow it really long when I was a kid - just don't have the patience these days.

"a 4 and a 6" - short and maintenance free and cool in hot weather but long enough to show you are not going bald. Makes me look like George Clooney too...at a push...from 100 metres...through dense fog...

shoulder length
However it is my choice.
basically due to sports it needs to be either so short it wont get in my eyes or long enough to be tied up so usally just long enough to be tied up

Its is too thin to have it down my back these days so just getting ready to not have a comb over
41 if that matters and some grey starting to show

Grade 2 is the way forward. It's your hair not your SO's.

I started shaving mine a while back as I too couldn't be arsed with getting it cut every couple on months. So much nicer when we have this weather too.

The long hair thing has one rule:

Never put it in a pony tail when you are bald on top.

I know exactly where the OP is coming from as I am the same age. I have a Clooneyesque French Crop now. This was after my last long hair phase that ended 18 months ago when I couldn't be arsed with it any more.
Cue embarrassing picture

I have a feeling I'm going to regret posting that.

Nearly 42 now. Had dreadlocks tied up for years. Now have a short cut "style" with more grey by the day which I kinda like. Mine sticks up randomly whatever I do so have just given in and get it cut every few months. I would describe my style as windswept or dontreallycaremuchanymore.

Mine was halfway down my back till a few weeks ago. The "low maintenance" ponytail was proving to be anything but, so I'm now sporting some sort of 'mid length' affair. Took a bit of getting used to (it's the shortest it's been in about 20 years) but if you'll pardon the pun it's growing on me.

I used to have hair like Matt^, long and natural blond and I'd say it's fine if you still have a good covering. However, there's nothing worse looking than a thinning/balding 40something with long hair. I always swore that I would go short as soon as I started loosing it, even just a little. That happened about 10 years ago and even tho I've still got a reasonably good head of hair, I couldn't imagine growing it long ever again. Long hair is a PITA anyway.
I mostly had a long bob type thing held out of my face with a length of string ala 60's hippy.

bigbloke... I'll take that as a compliment, I think. It was 3 years ago and the grey bits are now winning the battle.

I have to shave my head ... unless I'd have 'The Nutkins' - which isn't a good look.

[IMG] [/IMG]

Khani - have a short back and sides, but grow it out at the front and put in a natty side parting.

Seems pretty popular in Spain, then again look at the economy, maybe not such a good idea.

50's style pomp like the singer from Volbeat, Michael Poulsen. Would try one myself, but receeded too much.
