Getting a new laptop and need to transfer Outlook and all my old e-mails over.

Is it just a case of cutting/copying all Office and Outlook files over? Or is there something more to it than that?

Thanks in advance.

i just use File>import/export>export to a file>.pst file then copy them across to the new machine

Windows dose have a wizard for migration but i didn't use it for a reason that escapes me now

how about the fact that it is dead slow?

the import/export wizard is the way to go, you will need to do it for inbox, calendar, contacts and tasks.

Thanks for the tips.

Do I have to load the Outlook CD onto my new laptop first, or can I just transfer the whole lot from the old laptop to the new one?

OK, thanks. I'll have to dig the disk out.

Chicky was a blast. First 2 motos, I crashed while in second place, so ended up with two 3rds. Had to sit out motos 3 and 4 cos my had was swollen and couldn't grip the bars. Rode the B-final and got first place.

Mike, there is a special utility in Windows specifically to help you move data across to a new PC in the right format and dump it in the right place. Even includes settings, and you can use a memory stick if you have one big enough. I used it recently. Can't remember exactly where is is but if you go to Windows or Outlook help and put in something like "transfer data" you will find it
