Has anyone managed to 'mouse proof' an up-and-over garage door? I have another crew of the blighters in my garage at the moment.

I was on my rollers Monday when I saw one of them scuttle down the back wall of the garage.

I have caught three so far (a twisted side of me has set the security camera to catch their demise. My wife tells me that there is something wrong with me but the kids think it is great!).

I have a UPVC side door so the likely entry route is under the up-and-over garage door. Has anyone got any tips or is it just a fact of life?

I am always concerned that they are going to nest in the tent or something else expensive.

Whilst the traps work fine, poison is better for properly getting rid. It means that if they miss the trap, they'll die somewhere later on and not come back either way.

They can squeeze through the tiniest of places, so I would doubt that there would be any simple solution to sealing it. Just about the only thing they wont chew through is wire wool.

I do a lot of fishing as well as cycling so the garage always smells of bait and is like a proverbial foodhall to mice, best way I found was to put a rubber strip along the bottom of the up and over door , I riveted it on and made it slightly too long so it folds slightly one it hits the floor and gives it more strength and no gaps.

Worked for me as had the little bleeders getting in the house by going up the box work for the stenchpipe(integral garage )and into the bathroom above and then running all over the house via the space between ceiling and floor upstairs.

Will get a pic up in a bit but just make sure the rubber isn't too thick, I can't remember what I used but t wasn't proper proofing just something I had to hand

I had a n infestation a while back. used the pre-baited traps from BandQ which did a sterling job of disposing of many of them, then used a couple of plug in deterrers - this sort of thing and it seems to have worked since

EDIT oh no wait - the thing I have now is bigger and sends pulses through the mains wiring

I was quite amazed when watching the video playback that even though one mouse was dead in the trap, another came along and ate some of the cheese literally from under its nose!

Thanks for the pics and comments.

Eskay- in the floorspace on the landing I laid traps and a little blighter came along and ate the head of the one in the other trap- not a pretty sight
