It's just a van, or have I missed something?

Its a van with a marketing push towards mountain bikers, hence all the "powered by" claptrap on the rhs of this page!

Its a posh van.. the Dualiner has plastic trim and seats on the back and the Sport x is a posh Vito Sport.

Cant sell them so they have to give them away.. Singletrack mag has one I believe, so this forum may be powered by Vito-Sport too

Nearly every Merc van I see on the roads is a rustbucket, even if it's only a few years old. If I had a need for a van I would go for a Transit.

Yes, it's just a van with trendy body kit and a powerful engine..

... but Merc sponsor riders/events with the MTB world, so I'm not complaining.

You get so used to seeing "powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport" everywhere, you soon learn to automatically ignore/block it.

I was told recently by someone who should know that in 2006 they started galvanising them, so later ones will be better.

Fall to bits with rust at the slightest hint of moisture!

+1

Shame the lease cost of a Vito Sport is mahoosive though, even compared to a Transporter.

I had one for a weekend test and it was 'orrible. Despite the power and apparent sportyness it did nothing for me. It had an auto box (don't know if this is standard) that felt ten years out of date, and the chassis felt slack and wallowy. The interior was along the lines of a Merc car, but not quite, and just felt a bit cheap.

I had a Transporter Sportline for a different weekend, and it was in another leauge.

They should be better, they're not. 57 plates and younger in the local MB dealer for warranty rust work. Friend had 2 in the fleet and punted them after rust work was done under warranty, one was a 58 plate! Vws all the way for him.

A guy on here called The Littlest Hobo will be along soon, he now works as a Merc Commercial dealer, used to be VW commercial.

Mercs now galvanised, its just a matter of preference imho. Borrowed a Sport-x for a weekend. V6, auto box.. but bought a Sportline..

I was told by Merc Academy that VW T5 outsells Merc Vito 5:1... must be a reason in there somewhere.

Had one for a small period of time through work, bit crap really. Heavy to drive, wollowy and a PITA to get upto speed. Dodgy plastic trim, sit forward driving position, slam shut sliding door failed to shut properly.. a bit poorly made IMO.. Got shot quickly.
