[Closed] Men or Women bosses, which are better?

slightly off topic but does anyone know window cleaning jobs going within a company staffed by the aforementioned type of lady boss?

Men by far. This is all from my own personal experiences you understand. The women bosses I've had, have all, with the exception of one, tried to micro-manage everyone in the team constantly. If anyone would disagree with them about anything, they would instantly take it as a personal slight and bully that person from that point onwards.

One lady was part of the team with me and we got on great. The boss left and this lady was made temporary head of the department and she changed instantly, overnight from a nice, approachable person to a bullying over-sensitive witch. Within weeks she had me at a disciplinary because she reckoned I'd been undermining her and making personal attacks against her. When new manager was appointed, this lady went back to her old role and again, instantly reverted to the person she was before.

The one lady boss I've had who was OK as a boss, was terribly weak and would just get pushed around all the time. She was forever running around trying to keep the directors sweet but at least she let me get on with my job.

I would say it depends on the personality myself

Not had any women bosses myself but the GF has done and generally, erm, the women bosses don't get described in good ways!

I suppose not many bosses of either gender are liked.

Men, in my experience, the women I've encountered are not nice, to put it politely, unless you happen to be fatter, uglier and have less personality than them, if you're nicer than them they can be quite ,erm, nasty.

Depends if you come from a matriarchial or patriarchial environment and how you react(ed) to it. I grew up very much in the former and my usual reaction to female leadership is 'p155 off, who are you, my mom ?.

But then I've just got a bad attitude to authority in general.

I've got a female boss right now and my first thought of how she is as a boss is that there's too much fluctuation in her mood. I don't know if it's a gender thing or if it's just her but I'd rather a boss who was always in a bad mood. At least then they'd be predictable!

My new female boss is a witch. She has been, and is called 'Alan Carr' due to looks , glasses and voice . 'Marvin the paranoid android ' because she is. 'Miss Management' Because that is what she does .
Goes on loads of training courses then impliments alot of rubbish , like the need to stop you whilst you are in the middle of something and individually thank you for completing a task, which is part of your job.

We now take it in terms to be Good cop / bad cop . Its childish and we have yet to make her crack, but we will get there.

At least with blokes you can swear , and be generally rude , but she seems to take it all so personally , and I reckon she remembers or keeps notes in personel files on her lap top , which one day I shall be ripping onto a zip drive whilst she is queuing at the muck truck.

She evens asks us to give her any 'goodies' from the fridge we have bought in from home for our lunch, like cake or crisps , cheeky cow.

They're usually insecure and paranoid, but mix this with machiavellian deviance and they're a disaster. I've had plenty of women bosses and only two of them impressed me. They were both confident in their abilities, and as a result they were excellent. They never took suggestions from the team as personal challenges to their authority, and even when they made mistakes, generally shrugged it off and learnt from it.

The worst boss i have ever had was woman, and the best is a woman. Male bosses are all the same, pretty bland. But then i have no issue with woman. A rare thing in it from what i have seen and perhaps this is showing up here as well? 🙂

Mainly had female bosses some were good some were crap same with men realy. I think it is do with your skill set or something rather than your gender

I was once a boss and was crap at that as I found that I actually did not give a sh1t about work - mine or others. Lots of working from home mind 😉

Everything about Women bosses that I would say has been said: bullies, micro-managers etc

Its a personality thing - I've worked for some great and some awful male/female bosses. The (2) truly dreadful female bosses I have had were simply trying too hard to be better than the men in the worst traditions of feminism!

You don't truely believe that the only difference between men and women is their genitals do you?

I've worked for 3 women, and countless blokes. The women have all been quite nice, but none of them inspirational. All have had a tendency to micro manage and failed to see the bigger picture. Never worked for any of the power hungry types but there are plenty at our place. The worst boss I had was a man though

Men. Just ask my wife. Driven ouit of HSBC by a nutty, jealous, vindictive bitch. She'd never had any trouble in 10 years of employment before changing departments.

I know her name, I know where she lives and I have a cricket bat with nails in it....

Makes no difference that I've found, it's more "c or not a c" and that's transgender. I don't think you can split management ability down gender lines in a meaningful way myself.

Agree that women are worse than men but gay men are worse than either. Somehow I've managed to have two gay men as bosses, and I don't work in hairdressing. They're just ... well, gay.

Its personality not sex, though the most lying deceitful boss I have had was male. People who show favouritism are very bad news or those with unstable moods - and both sexes can behave like this.

The most destructive bosses I have worked for are those who are sexist as they cause massive divisions within working groups. Either they favour people they find sexually appealing or they hate one sex - and such bosses can be either men or women.

I have worked with women bosses who favour guys they fancy to the detriment of other staff, or who refuse to employ any men at all. I have had men bosses who will blatantly let blokes get away with sackable behaviour, destructive to the whole department, while severely punishing women for the most trivial issues during the same period.

Inconsistency/favoritism in the work place is not acceptable and bad for the company and for staff morale.
