I watched Keunsberg this morning and that interview with mandelson is, well quite worrying.
I'm glad he's no longer ambassador but quite concerned that he is starting his come back. If he is representative of the UK government then we are in deeper shit than I thought.
He seems to be in thrall to trump and doesn't seem to think there was anything wrong with his friendship with Epstein post his convictions because he was assured it was a wrongful conviction.
I haven't seen it but saw the BBC headline and wondered why we need to be hearing what he thinks about anything.
Some of the wording (in the article I didn't watch the interview) is deceptive IMO.
Saying that he was kept away from it all because he was gay, that he didn't see any young girls. Well how about young boys then? I doubt Epstein cared about the sex of the abused or the sexuality of the people he provided them for.
And yeah he does still seem to be a Trump fanboy, so Starmer will want him back on the team somehow, I expect he is still advising Starmer in the background.

To stop Mandleson coming back yet again from the dead we’d need to refer to Bram Stokers writings and start sharpening stakes and laying traps but if Starmer is determined to slid him in somewhere then Starmer and his Mandleson acolyte McSweeney deserve to get the absolute shit kicked out of the party this year, perhaps then we’ll see a possible decent Labour leader come through with vision for the country

It doesn’t matter if he didn’t see anything before the crimes started coming to light… he kept him as a close friend AFTER he was convicted for procuring a child for prostitution and everyone knew he was a wrong un. The consequence of us now knowing that is that we get to judge him on his character… no weasel words will get people back on side. He chose to keep his relationship going with the convicted Epstein, and kept it quiet… since that became public… it’s all over… he can shut up and go away.

Mandelson was exactly the type of wannabe who would want to be around the wealthy and powerful surrounding Epstein. I can see Epstein keeping him away from the parties with young girls, but within the wider Epstein circle there must have been a bit of gossip and inference.
Even if Mandelson, or indeed the Andrew formerly known as Prince, were not involved with the victims, it shows tremendous selfish arrogance to be back in touch after the first conviction. But Mandelson's comments about Trump suggest that is still an issue with him.

I slightly see it the other way around. It's Epstein who was the wannabe, and Mandelson who's the political operator and introducer...and exactly the kind of freeloading parasite that'll uncritically tag along with you because he gave you a shot on his yacht. Mandelson is repellant. Making him ambassador was a major mistake for Starmer.

There was just something about the language that is exactly what shrewd liars do, a statement that may be superficially true, but barely touches the sides of the full story and their involvement. And I don't think anyone would deny that Mandelson is, and always has been, a shrewd liar and a complete snake.
Yes he certainly used language to it's full extent. Even his non apology was carefully crafted to be nothing.
He was telling us that trump is a man of his word but was obviously joking about Greenland.

Not really. He seems to have been all about not just personal power over his victims but also about involving other "powerful" people for his own gain. It would be more surprising if he went "oh he is gay never mind lets find some other rich/politically connected scumbag".
I guess it could be true but I would err on the side of caution and in this case its that a scumbag exploiter like Epstein wouldnt let sexual preference get in the way of things.
