A lil help needed, please: My macbook keeps on dropping my wifi, despite reporting strong signal and very little interference. My android phone works perfectly on the wifi, as does my Sonos system.
I've tried resetting the DNS cache, and playing around with the network settings (as per many online guides), and nothing seems to work.
One thought I had was it may be my UK-bought Macbook doesn't play well with these ere Canadian systems, but I'm not sure if that's a thing or not.
BTW it's a 2014 Macbook Pro running High Sierra.
Any tips?
Are you able to hard wire cat-something cable to the modem router?
Not wishing to be facetious, but I had a similar issue with my circa 2013 iMac with a TP Link modem router and so I just ran a cable to it and no issues since.

Wi-Fi frequencies are regional, different territories permit different channels. I've no idea about the Mac but you might have to set a country code somewhere.
Almost every time an apple device connected to or tried to connect to our router, WiFi shit a brick for every connected device until the Mac/iPhone was disconnected and the router was restsrted. Was then fine again until the Apple device reconnects. Had the issue across 3 different iPhones and 2 macbooks.
Tp link router (running both oem and openwrt firmware) and virgin by Netgear router both the same.
So, er, not much help but you're not alone in the issue!!
My MacBook was doing this with my Virgin hub but nowhere else. In the end I bought a new router, only a cheap TP Link one and just made the Virgin box act as a modem. Solved the problem
Cheers guys. All of those seem feasible. The thing is it's now done it with 2 different routers: the one at my friends house, where I was staying temporarily, and now with my own router, in my own apartment. Two completely different makes and models of modem. As a result, I'm tempted to look for an issue in the laptop itself.
I have been tempted to get a windows lappy for a while so maybe this is the time 😀
PS: I've read about the country code thing before but can't anywhere in the OS where I would set it. I think its automatically obtained from the network.
Have seen similar on 2 macbooks, but installed a flavour of Linux via REfind and problem solved. They seem to work fine with a decent OS 😉
