I'm looking for a 2 man tent that will used/carried from a car, not back packing.

Doing some research on the web, but does anyone have any suggestions please?

Just saw a North Face Tadpole in Decathlon the other day. Brilliant tent which could be used for backpacking if you wanted in the future. I think it was about £150.

Quechua (or generic knock-off) pop up tent? That's what I would get if I was car-camping.

Any reason for sticking to a 2 man tent, is it for 2 people? We got a 3 man tent for cycle camping for 2 for a bit of space to dress, stash stuff etc. Was worth it dragging it around behind a bike, if I was in a car then get down to CCC if there is one near you, sale at the moment with some reasonable stuff for little cash.
I like the one in Sheffield, loads of the tents are up to have a look around. Decathlon also have reasonable priced stuff. (we got a Decathlon one, T3 ultralight pro but as 70 odd quid when we got it)

If you're car-ing it, then why not get a big cheap-o 5 or 6 man tent from Asda or wherever? It's not like you have to worry about the weight, and the extra size is such a luxury!

The 2 second tent from decathlon is pretty good for car camping, get a 3 man one as a little extra space is always handy. I'm going off to get the bizarre stand up front shelter on Saturday for ours.

pop up decathlon all the way. 3second version about £50ish i think. You look so smug when everyone is still faffing and your already in bed.

Establish purpose/use first.

Car camping = weight not an issue.
Do you want to cook in all weathers = porch area big enough for safe cooking
Do you want to be asble to situp/drink etc in rain - maybe bigger than 2 man/porch/awning

I got a 25 inc postage popup double skinned cheapie for car camping off ebay - no porch - ie if good can cook/etc outside else quick pack/car/cafe

I've got an ultra light Northface 1.5 man for hiking and a 3 man Vango with huge porch for biking/surfing weeknds

I am going to do just that 'gusamc'.....just pack up and go ! 😀

Looking for a tent that is easy to set up and take down quickly as I intend on moving around quite a bit...

Tents have moved along a lot since I was last camping (many years ago)...

Just so much choice around...confusing...

For car camping - get the 3 man Vaude Equinox (can't remember the number - the biggest one with just one sleeping area though... may even be 4 man)

It is marvelous - you can sit in the bell end in chairs, get a double matress in with acres of space to space... the bell end out front has a floor bit so you have a huge space for chilling out if the weather turns nasty - we usually have a few folk in the front with a few chairs and a coolbox of beer 😉

They are also, unlike the cheap shitey familly tents, 4 season rated - you get em up right and they are damn solid! I have learned from many nights camping in the Highlands and Islands never to take anything less than a 4 season tent... collapsing canvas on a stormy night is never a good thing 😉

Love mine, it has done us well over the last 5 years or so!

Sorry... that should have been a Vango Equinox! I also have a Vaude Mk III kicking about somewhere (retired) which obviously sneaked into my concious thought (it got replaced with a Lightwave XT which is larger, stronger and lighter... and a fair chunk more cash too!)

The Vango is this one:

Go for the 350 and it would be ideal

I do a bit of camping with my little lad. I use the car so weight asnt an issue so I went for the Vango 500 from Go Outdoors. I managed to get the latest model for last years sale price of £75. Its big enough in the bedroom for 2 x DOUBLE blow up mattresses which will be good enough for a family of 4. The porch is big enough for us to squeeze 2 x chairs and a cooking table. I can put it up in about 20mins by myself or 10mins with help.

Bought all the gear last year and really looking forward to a summer full of camping. Once we get it mastered we will buy a lightweight tent and go start some wild camping

I've got a 4 man car camping tent for sale with a vestibule, that you can stand up in and sit in the vestibule. It's Vango something, and just cluttering up the garage.

If you want quality check out a Coleman Bi-Space 300.
Thickest sewn-in groundsheet I've ever known.
Really well made tent.

I've had a North Face Tadpole for about ten years now (i think!) and its longevity is a triumph of quality and design. Thoroughly recommended.

Second the Tadpole opinion. Had one for more than 10 years and it is still spot on.
