In London next Friday evening looking a for a romantic night in a restaurant with the wife. Very rare trip to London round the Fritrovia or Soho area but can go a little further. About £80 (£100 def.max) for the bill inc. a nice bottle of wine.

Thinking Arbutus at the moment?

Any ideas would be hugely welcome

Bam Bou is nice at the bottom end of Charlotte street (loads of choice down there). Think Bam Bou is on Percy street/charlotte street junction. Been four times to BB. Never been disappointed. There are some cracking options in that immediate area. Nice cocktail in the Charlotte Street hotel to start?

My choice would be bocca di lupo for Italian or hawksmoor for steak. Actually, it would have to be the hawksmoor.

He would struggle to bring the bill in under 100 notes in Hawksmoor

I'd recommend Clos Maggiore

@lhs Cos Magorie is very nice but for two you'd be looking at £125 if you were careful with the wine and had only 2 courses. I would have recommended it if it were not for the budget constraint

Maybe, haven't been for a few months but i thought you could do a good meal for two for around £100 no? About £30 a head for two course for food and say a cheaper bottle of wine for £25 + 15% tip is around £100. Granted add anything else on, apertif plus dessert you're up at the £130-£140 mark.
