Anybody ever had a Lisfranc fracture/dislocation on their foot?
Got any happy tales to tell about recovery?
I did my foot on Friday, had 3 screws inserted on Sunday morning and everything I've heard about this injury has been pretty awful. Very long recovery times, pain in the foot months/years after etc etc.

I've got a pretty long reach with my crutches and I'm pretty quick on them already so with comments like that you'd better be running fast

Ouch! Not actually seen any of these in practice. Recoevry times if fit and healthy and no compilcations I would put at 5-6 months. Plenty of foot strengthening and mobilization excersizes when your specialist gives you the ok, but all in moderation!
I see no reason why you cant get back on the bike at that time to regain bike fitness, but ensure the foot is as immobile as it can be. Spds and rigid soled bike shoes... Good stiff soled walking shoes for when you're out of the cast?walker?
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
5-6 months isn't that bad compared with some of the stories I've read online but thats only a handful of stories and not a true representation of a typical recovery.
I've been a flat pedal rider for quite a while now, I may invest in a turbo-trainer and some SPD's and put in some miles on that before I venture outside with SPD's again.
Seen a few of these..... Never been very pretty I'm afraid. Nasty injury. Massive amount of force usually required to fracture-dislocate the midfoot.
Recovery time is long but do exactly as the physio / orthos tell you.
Just out of interest, how did you do it??
I did it playing around on some dirt jumps.
I'm not entirely sure what happened, I think I landed slightly sideways and the front wheel washed out from underneath me but it's all a bit "fuzzy". All I know is I ended up a few metres away from the bike unable to stand up.
Front wheel is pringled as well
