So I just stumbled across the STW Link Removal policy

Thought it would be fun to compile a list of those sites/people that may have tried to get a gagging order to get our witterings brushed under the carpet

I'll start with:

Ling's Cars / Ling Valentine

Land Rover fraud Ryan Stott / Bespoke Defenders & Land Rover Restorations https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/so-i-bought-a-defender-pt3/page/

Mr Badger 🙂

I hadn't read the land rover one, so copied the link above and it weirdly took me here https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/page-refresh-in-android/

Suppose I shouldn't be surprised with the new and improved forum, but hopefully this takes similarly interested readers to the correct place... https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/so-i-bought-a-defender-pt3/

As you were.

The link provided by the OP is incomplete.

ST HQ were asked to take down an image of Axl even though it wasn’t actually hosted here.

I'm just curious whether you've found a way around the bug where URLs aren't turned into links or whether you bit the bullet and used the link button?

As for the original list, I'd be extremely surprised if Ling tried to get anything taken down - she appears to work on the principle of all publicity is good publicity.

aracer - I used the link button. But then I'm on a laptop at the mo which is considerably easier than my phone to use with the forum.

There's been a good few over the years. They usually follow a similar format. It'll be a thread from about five years ago, the link can be anything from "don't use [company], they're terrible" to simply an innocuous link to their website, the email will be bleating on about affecting their Google rankings (probably because they've been spamming elsewhere and got bitten), and the opening salvo will be demands and threats of legal action. Pro tip, if you want something removing then starting with "do what we say or will sue you" is unlikely to be met favourably.

To be fair, I edited the post about 5 times as it kept putting the span stuff in there...and at one point I removed /p5 from the link thinking it was directing people to page 5. Combined with a glitch predictive text on my phone it took ages!

Does "please do this, I'll buy you cakes if you do" work?
