Long story short - we bought a pixel 8 pro off backmarket due to a recommendation on here - it developed the notorious pixel line down the RHS. Sent it back for warranty and - for those that don't know back market but its nota single shop its like etsy for used phone dealers.......the seller rather than fix it - decided to smash the screen and decline the warranty due to external damage. - unfortunately for him we had time stamped videos and photos showing the condition and packaging AS it was packaged.

Now give the backmarket team their credit where its due - we have a no quibbles refund to use once we sent the photos and video.  - but understandably the wife no longer wants a pixel 8 now we know about the pixel line which plagues them all.

The Camera was the main draw - whats a similar phone in other models ?

I use a HD doogee S Punk - Quality name - But it would write off a car if you ran it over, but wouldn't guarantee a clear picture of its registration plate if stationary in perfect daylight so i have little experience in good phones.

How about a redmi, Poco or Xiaomi offering in your price range?

I'm a long term oneplus user (2,7,9,12 at least one met with an unplanned ending when a glass jar fell from a cupboard onto the screen), currently have the 12. Cameras are good enough that I seem to never use my actual camera any more, but this could just be good enough for me.

pixel line which plagues them all.

Lol, it does not plague them all by any stretch of the imagination.

My experience of buying a few refurbished phones over the years is the reason they are refurbs is because they had some fault that has had an attempted fix with varying degrees of success.

Scour hotukdeals for a deal on new. If you want a really reliable camera then pixel is the only way to go IMO. Samsung just had too much shutter lag/the camera app isn't responsive enough even on their ultras of your trying to take a picture of anything with movement.

This is a good one

My pixel 4 developed a fault just shy of 2 years old. I returned it to them and they warrantied it. I got another 2 years out of the 4 before I decided to upgrade to the 8pro.

So far my 8pro has been faultless..... Hopefully I've not jinxed it.

I've had 5 pixel phones and non have them have had the "notorious pixel line down the RHS, which plagues them all"

I have had phones from all the other well known companies except 🍏 obviously and had far more issues with those.

"notorious pixel line down the RHS, which plagues them all"

all models of pixels not all phones

But anyway the echo chamber has spoken and my wife is now mulling over just getting another but not using that seller. It was a good phone . just it seems that the pixel platform has been flawed for some time and google don't intend to reengineer the issue.
