[Closed] Lightroom 3 question - how do I filter out JPG's from my Library?

Lightroom has imported all my RAW images, along with all the low-res JPG's of them as well... so when I open a folder I get say IMG_0454.CR2 and IMG_0454.JPG next to each other... I only want to see the .CR2 files, not the JPG's, can I set a filter or something to hide them??

Do you mean when you go into a folder outside of Lightroom? Are you on mac or windows?

nope, in Lightroom. It's showing both CR2 and JPG files of the same image (as I shoot both normally). Using a PC

Can't you do 'Arrange by kind' in the Finder? Then it'll list all the jpegs, then you can select all of them and delete/move them.

Edith: Or the equivalent action on a PeeSee.

No?

Simples

View > Sort > File Extension ๐Ÿ˜‰

edit - IIRC once you've separated the two you can select the JPEG's (mac - shift click the first and last in the sequence) then right click which will give you the option to delete - be sure you check the delete from lightroom, not delete from disk option ๐Ÿ˜€

yep, easy to do in outside of Lightroom, I know how to do that ๐Ÿ˜€ . For any particular set of pics I basically have one folder which contains all the CR2 images for that set. Also within this folder is a sub-folder for the original JPG's. So that's fine, CR2's and JPG's are separate.

It's in Lightroom that I have a problem... when it's imported everything off the hard-drives, it's imported both CR2 and JPG's (and any other image type it's found) so I now see two images with the same file name but of different file types... I want to exclude the JPG's and only see the CR2 files.

Marsdenman, thanks for that, that helps! But is there a way to totally filter out JPG's from the Library?

I guess I could do the sort, then delete the unwanted files from the Library?

edit - see above re deleting from the lightroom library - I just tried it on a file.
right click gives you a 'delete' option but (do check this though) it only removes the file from LR, as opposed to actually deleting it...

- ah -if you mean all the JPEG's from all the folders in your library (what LR actually calls the Catalogue of images) then, I don't know, doubt there is a 'global removal' option though...

New catalog?
If you can find an easy way to flag all the jpgs - eg as described above, sort by file type within each folder, select all the jpgs and assign them a label colour. You could then filter by label colour, and then export everything as a new catalog, using this catalog in future?

That'd work as well, thanks. What I'm currently doing is simply removing them from the Library, don't really need or want 'em in there tbh, just want the CR2's to be edited...
