I use a Pelicase 1450 when flying for work to transport various tools and stuff.
I like it and it offers great protection but it's heavy.
As I don't really need the bombproof protection but I do need some protection are there any lighter alternatives that anyone can recommend?

The Solid 2 is reasonably the same size as the 1450 but about half the weight.

Look up Boschma cases, see if they do something in a suitable size. we use them for stuff that could be in a peli, but as you say don't quite need that level of protection but could do with being lighter (gets the weight down for flying kit).

Those Raaco Solid cases looks like just the job. Good compromise and cheap.
