Edric

I don't know how old you are, but if you are aged between say 35 and 45 it's an absolute teen classic! I don't know if this is true, but I think it was Tom Cruise's first film. It's called Risky Business and basically it's about a teenager having a party. That's it!

Well you didnt miss that much.

The film is as follows: Tom Cruise wears Ray Bans, rakes the lawn, parents go away, he turns the stereo up and dances around in boxer shorts, has a party, meets a girl, someone trashes his father's porsche, he gets the girl, he gets into trouble re porsche and ends up having to do a lot of leaf raking.

That is from memory - others may fill me in on any details missed!

Watched it about 10 minutes ago...and although I've consumed a bottle of red, I'm sure Tom Cruise did not make an appearance.

Oh - have I got the wrong film? - I was thinking of risky business. Is this a line from Ferris Beuller and the ferrari?

I disagree. Both have a whale of a time while parents are away - the only difference is that in Risky Business a porsche gets trashed and in Ferris Beullur it's a ferrari!

Angela - yes I realise that, but I can't believe you can't perceive the thematic similarities, the same pathos in the scripts, the same tragi-comedic romantic tensions.......

I mean come on, I've been watching England, am a bit trashed, throw me a frickin bone here! (Oh that's another film.....)

And anyway, i am sure there is a scene at the end with Toim Cruise doing the gardening in Ray Bans when he shares his philosophy about living fast - if someone can provide the quote you will see very similar diagologue if not all out plaigarism, and yes, I plan to dig and dig myself out of this hole here 😀

All Ferris Beulleur did was mass around with answering machines whereas Tom Cruise takes his Dad's stereo's audio analysis machine thingy that has been set to very accurate settings and just whacks them all up to 11. We once did that with my mates Dad's stero........ awesome days the early eighties ahh happy memories. 8)

Edit - I think Graphic Equaliser is the phrase I was searching for.

I thought they were both quite glossy, aspirational, generic and uninspiring coming of age films tbh, and I could never relate to either of them I struggle to remember which is which and I'm exactly the right age for them............ I'll shut up and go now cos I'm begginning to ramble.

Cameron: The 1961 Ferrari 250GT California. (OH YEAH!) Less than a hundred were made. My father spent three years restoring this car. It is his love, it is his passion.
Ferris: It is his fault he didn't lock the garage.

Also this car used in the film (a replica) was sold at Sotherbys in London only about 4 weeks ago for £78,600.... i think - i should of sent my buyer to go get it realy!

😀

He just rubs it with a diaper. Amazing film, and yes, I'm so cool (!) that I can quote from the lot. And for the record, I'm not in the age bracket - age 32.
