Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Just because someone says their dog doesn't bite, check first, as that might not be their dog.

If you need to choose between "head" and "heart", always go with "heart". Whether or not it's the right decision, you're going to have to live with it so you might as well be behind it.

Take a run up. It's always harder when you start on the brink.

Help other people when you don't have to.

Always place as much gear as possible just before topping out on seacliffs. (For Pembroke/Swanage/Gogarth, "just before" is about 2m from the top).

Experience is what you get from surviving when things go wrong.

My girlfriend gave me heart last night, on reflection I think I made the wrong choice.

Rudyard Kipling's 'If' has some good advice.

Buy the best bed, and the best boots you can afford. Cos if you're not in one, you'll be in t'other.

Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty.

If the nappy bin thing looks a bit too full - don't get your hand stuck in it trying to push one last stinking, poo-laced nappy in there.

You might think it's bad - it's never that bad. It gets better.

Unless you have your hand stuck in a nappy bin.

Yeah. That's how I sheared the bolt holding the idler pulley on my old Jeep.
