After ordering too much chinese last night (accidentally of course) I have the leftovers for lunuch today, however, I cannot decide if I should nuke them, or have them cold?Â
Help!
☢️ & more soy sauce!
I've got some Spanish omelette left over from last night but what I really want is a sausage roll 😩
Amateur! I got three lunches this week out of Saturday night's Chinese takeaway. I ordered several dishes for the kids to try, but would you believe it they just stuck to hoovering up the crispy duck.
I did order 3 dishes just for me...Â

Best of both worlds: Put a reasonable amount in the microwave, the amount you think would be a sensible portion. Then, while you're waiting for that to heat up, just snack on the cold stuff with your fingers. By the time the microwave is done, there probably won't be enough left to be worth putting back in the fridge so just eat it all. Then lick the tasty grease off your fingers and get to work on the hot stuff out of the microwave. This way, you get to lick the yummy grease off your fingers, plus also make the room smell of microwaved Chinese takeouts for several days. That's called a win-win by the pros.
isnt re-heating rice sposed to be a bit dodgy? of course im assuming rice was included, could have been noodles i suppose.
Rice is ok reheated as long as you properly nuke it! Same as chicken really, no half way house of just warming it up.
We had Chinese last night and my daughter didn't want her honey chilli chicken and rice. Guess what I had for lunch today?!?!?

the issue is not whether you heat it or not, its how it was cooled. Rice can harbour spores of a bacteria which survive the original cooking and if slowly cooled multiple up and produce a toxin which is not destroyed on reheating. You want it to go from too hot for the bacteria to grow to too cold for it to produce toxin as quickly as possible. Multiple reheats are particularly bad. Foil dishes used by takeaways keep the food luke warm for too long.
If it was me, I'd nuke it and put in into a sarnie...

Someone scared the crap out of me on here... bacteria in rice 'Bacillus cereus' spores, can survive the cooking process, and if cooked rice is left to sit at room temperature, the spores can germinate and produce toxins, leading to food poisoning. During reheating you can kill the bacteria, but the toxins already produced are not killed.Â
To prevent this, cool rice quickly, store it in the refrigerator, and reheat it thoroughly. Also rice cooker 'keep warm' temp is above the temp the toxin are produced, which will be part of the reason Asian's use them and don't faff with cooking in sauce pans.Â

I'd assume it's more because they eat lots of rice so it's easier.Â
