MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Way back in the mists of time (1997!) I did a bit of VB programming.
I need to write something for work, and it appears that the bar stewards at MS have changed the entire way that VB.net handles databases, and it's making my head hurt!
Can anyone suggest a decent textbook, I've had a google, but real life experience is good.
depends what you want to do I suppose, but might be a good idea to start here.
I find the webcasts are much better for geting going quickly than trying to read a load of dry text / follow examples.
In later .net versions (2.0 +) there is also the idea of typed data sets which can generate a lot of the laborious ado.net code for you. Do beware, though, because in some scenarios using data sets can limit your freedom, causing you trouble down the line.
